Damn. :smh: :smh:

End the season already. Players testing positive and family members dying. As much as I want basketball right now, it’s time to do the right thing. Regroup and come back next season.
Absolutely agree. Is that weirdo buc em banned from this thread too? he said he was banned from the covid-19 thread so now he’s in the mma thread spewing his nonsense on how he needs sports and they should start playing soon.

Yeah I don't get why folks want to rush it.

I think we all WANT it to come back ASAP.

But at the same time we understand the risk and don't want anyone to be put out there for the sake of a game.

It's obviously not something to mess around with.

Those few soccer games in Europe were responsible for thousands of cases alone. Imagine that same thing happened because of a MLB or NBA game? Not worth it.

That's really sad, I was pulling for her to recover since he made the Instagram post about it. Thought she might've gotten better since I didn't see anything about it afterwards.|l

I know people are dropping left and right but KAT’s Mom passing. Damn. I was really rooting for her.

They really need to cancel this season though. Stop coming up with potential scenarios to play a game without an audience. This virus is bigger than the NBA. Cancel this season.

I could maybe see a path for non-contact, individual sports like golf and tennis to resume play sooner rather than later since it’s possible to do those things while maintaining social distance. But team sports are a no-go for a good while, IMO.

Yeah, man. Everyone needs to realize they're going to have to cut their losses on sports and general outdoor entertainment for the foreseeable future whether Dr. Buc Em approves or not. I was thinking about it and the talking point about wanting to "return to somewhat normalcy" holds no weight whatsoever because there is going to be a brand new "normal" once things open back up. Walking on the sidewalk, taking public transit, being in an office/store/enclosed environment, etc. is going to be vastly different.

It's kind of crazy that we can't even figure out how to get people out of their homes and safely into the world yet people are hoping for and brainstorming all sorts of ways to bring sports back.

Yep I spoke about this on a pod w/Jovan and the athletic that came out the other day, and one of the things we spoke about was because of this, (and this is a long shot) the NBA may consider altering the next two and a half years in order to finish this season. For some in NBA circles, not finishing this season just isn't an option even if it has to be finished in Oct, Nov, or Dec.

Man how is one going to react if they go to a game in January and the person by them coughs or sneezes?!

We're so far away from a vaccine that there's no such thing as normal. Intermittent Quarantining may be a legit thing. Crazy times.

will they be playing in empty arenas? i dont see how they allow such huge gatherings for awhile
it would feel so weird watching without a crowd, even if they do decide to go on with sporting events

Word.

But in all seriousness, that is absolutely ridiculous. After a six month hiatus they want to have the teams reassemble for the playoffs just so they can crown a 2019-2020 regular season champion? After that long they are all essentially new players/teams/dynamics, etc might as well start brand new. It's like trying to hold onto a relationship that's ran it's course. Just start fresh, man.

Not to mention how that could completely **** players' bags. Also, what happens to the NBA draft? Can all declared players go back or do they have to try to go international? The NCAA doesn't want to have to deal with that drama either.

Alluded to this on the pod too. NY Times said this. This sounds like it MAY be on the extreme end but...maybe not? Don't think some people understand how grave this is potentially. This is a Doomsday scenario slowly playing out. Regardless if this is on the extreme end or not, some of the finest minds in the world are saying stuff like this makes you think.

Yes, I was envisioning tennis matches with no audiences and golf matches with no gallery. Basically made for TV events.

I was thinking the same thing. People need to look at how hesitant the lowest-contact sports are at returning and realize the NBA, NFL and MLB have a looonnnnggggg way to go. When I saw the Masters got pushed to November, I became a lot less hopeful tbh.

Is there any evidence that Lebron definitely is pushing for the season to continue?

“I can have some satisfaction on what our team has been able to do this year (with) a first-year coach, first-year system, a whole new coaching staff, bringing on so many new pieces to our team this year,” James was quoted as saying by Sports Illustrated.
“(But) I don’t think I’ll be able to have any closure if we do not have an opportunity to finish this season.”

Lakers being realistic are in a one year window, I've said as much in our team thread. I don't think any team would be hurt worse by the season being canceled but it's looking that way.
