If it makes you feel better, I chose a different sterotype today. Currently wearing pressed cut-off Dickie’s pants, wife beater and black and white Cortez.

Funny how two of the players pictured are two of the NBA's 108 international players that raise the overall quality of play in the league today. Whereas so many international players who were good enough to play in the NBA in the 80s and 90s ended up not playing in the NBA and were instead essentially replaced by NCAA players who otherwise wouldn't have been good enough to make it.

Not only is the skill level of the average American player higher today, but on top of that those American players are competing for NBA roster spots with the best players from outside of North America as well, whose average skill level by the way is also higher than that of the non-US players from the 80s and 90s.

Old guy must’ve put me on ignore lol
I don’t even post in here that often

It's Taco Tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuessssssssdaaaaay! Gawd I can't believe LeBron tried to trademark/copyright that phrase.

That said some legit tacos and margarita do sound pretty good right about now lol.

I looked into the origins of Taco Tuesday...

Since 1989, Taco Tuesday® has been a registered trademark of Taco John’s, one of the largest Mexican restaurant chains in the United States. Never heard of it? That's not too surprising. While it has 400-plus locations, the chain mostly operates in the Midwest, and it’s based in Wyoming...The restaurant is far more infamous for their campaign to keep Taco Tuesday® all to themselves. While many other restaurants use the phrase, they legally cannot.

Every couple of years, Taco John's sends cease-and-desist letters to small restaurants who use the phrase Taco Tuesday® and force them to stop under threat of further legal action. Taco John’s makes no apologies for its heavy-handedness. “Ever hear of Taco Tuesday®?” reads their website today. “We started it! We even trademarked it. That’s how seriously we take tacos.” “It’s just unfathomable to us not to protect it,” a company spokesperson told Priceonomics in 2016. “It’s part of our DNA. Taco Tuesday is this American institution. Not to take the chance to talk about it and our story, that would go against who we are.”

Claiming Taco Tuesday as an American instuition and talking about is exactly who THEY are |l

Anyone listen to the recent Bill Simmons<>Chad Ford podcast on the 2003 draft? Both guys have their issues but it was a real good pod, especially to relive for anyone who was following basketball heavy at that time.

Apparently Detroit was going to take Bosh if they didn't take Darko, they got lured in by a workout they saw in person by chance where Darko was incredible. They supposedly had "character concerns" about Melo because he came into the combine overweight and had been hanging with some questionable characters.

I still think about what Wade would have been in Detroit because that would have been the perfect pick. Obviously he was the second best player in the draft, but also as a 4 year player he may have actually gotten some PT from Larry Brown. I know they had all star starters at PG and SG, but he would have been a Harden-esque bench player for them and his attitude would have meshed with that team. Wade was ready to go right away whereas Bosh also had a little development period.

Melo should have been the pick , they were overthinking it and got mesmerized by a Darko workout...They must have seen the stop snitchin dvd early to think hat Melo was hanging with “questionable characters” :smh:

Well clearly Wade should’ve been the pick in full retrospect. But yeah probably the same thing that had to do with that vid lol. Clearly didn’t end up being a long term problem.

Had to be Bosh, then maybe Melo. They had just drafted Tayshaun a year or two ago to play the 3, were high on him but Melo was an upgrade might've changed Tayshauns career in general

I shared my thoughts, but Nick Collison's name didn't even come up, which is dumb. Dan Devine even calculated Collison was picked exactly where he should have been (12th), considering how everyone's career played out.

I was listening to the 2002 episode again today, and forgot about the part where Stern walked to the podium and said that when Chuck and Kenny entered the league, "they couldn't speak English, either", in reference to them talking about Yao and other foreigners who couldn't speak English. Just cold blooded lol
