I was listening to the 2002 episode again today, and forgot about the part where Stern walked to the podium and said that when Chuck and Kenny entered the league, "they couldn't speak English, either", in reference to them talking about Yao and other foreigners who couldn't speak English. Just cold blooded lol

Stern was an underrated and understated savage , that calm, mild mannered demeanor gave way to some of the most ruthless zingers and put downs I've heard

Never forget that Rome interview

Regarding the Rome interview, does anyone remember why Stern came back at him like that? It was masterful deflection by Stern, and nobody remembers why he did it. They just remember that he did it, which became the story.

Always thought he was the smartest dude in the room and wanted to remind everyone else of it too. And I say that with admiration.

Rome basically asked if the outcome of NBA games are ever predetermined and Stern felt that was a question that should not have been asked, so Stern went savage on him.

Close. It was about rigging the draft. The Pelicans had gotten the #1 pick, and Rome was just poking at him about a conspiracy to set it up for them. Stern finally had it and dropped the wife beating question.

This is grade A stupidity. And not remotely true. If you mean systemic racism? Yes, maybe. Unless you're talking AAU or pick up basketball  but racism doesn't exclude anyone from being so. The level of hypocrisy and double standard here, is why currently one of the reasons why this country is so divided.

Definition:
noun prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

That doesn't exclude anyone. Crap like "Black Excellence". You don't see white, hispanic, or asians saying nonsense like this.

Why?

Because they would be considered racist for being proud of themselves, but the double standard allows blacks to say this? Can you not comprehend the stupidity and hypocrisy of that type of statement? The level of colorist, and double standard is asinine.

What LeBron is doing is racial slur. Cultural appropriation. If a white athlete did it, it's racist. If a white, hispanic, or asian athlete did Fried Chicken Fridays, and spoke like black face or a southern Aunt Jamima type do you realize the outrage it would cause?

Double standard at it's finest. This mind set you just put out there, where blacks can't be racist? LOL but you can joke about whatever you feel is hilariously and idiotically hypocritical.
Whose burner is this?

:rollin :rollin :rollin

How long y'all think he lasts here?

YO this guy called his opinions on basketball "professional" because he's an AAU coach in the Last Dance thread in general
I was coaching in AAU when I was 19

I remember working rec league back in the mid-'90s and cats would show up to games dressed like Pat Riley, complete with suits and slick backed hair. The best was this dude who coached 11-year-old girls. C'mon, man. I don't know why I was reminded of that, but thanks for that.

When I was about 15 I coached a team of 7 year olds in Biddy Basketball. I did a pretty bad job. I basically just told the kid on the team who was good to do whatever he wanted and told everyone else to get out of his way or go for rebounds. But I don’t specifically recall any parents complaining, so mission accomplished. (I never coached again)
