Funniest part is that most of the good players will not even be there. The last time a "big name" player came through for the ICC was Gareth Bale when he first joined Real Madrid back in 2013. No idea what the people paying $400+ are thinking

True, I didn't think about that. Let's see. I remember Ronaldo came to the US when Real played LA Galaxy back in 2011, and he's definitely a Miami type of dude, so he might be out there

Either way, after $400-$500 for a flight to Miami from SF/LA and AT LEAST $600 for a nosebleed seat (just checked Stubhub right now), might as well pay for a flight to Spain and catch El Clasico there for around the same total cost.

I've flown to Barcelona for $800 before, and $300 would get you AMAZING seats at El Clasico. @#$@ nosebleeds!

Football season tickets really aren't that expensive on mainland Europe compared to the UK's ridiculous prices.

When I saw Dortmund play in germany when I loved there 2 years ago. It was a Europa League game. 36 Euros. bought online four days prior. sold out three days prior

When I went to the World Cup in Germany '06. 120 euros a ticket. Be it since it's a world event you apply for a lottery on top of lotteries to be able to follow your country of choice (IP address' defaulted it to USA) so if you happened to do that you would have to be lucky again by being in the host nation and on call because if USA made it to the quarterfinals THey'll email you a ticket or whatever. My mom took chances and joined the lottery of lotteries to get any match if possible and even slimmer chance of in knockout rounds (less games out there obviously).

The game was Italy- Australia, 1-0 to the future champs

I wouldn't mind if RM in a sense prioritized La Liga over the CL. Hope we run with our strongest lineup against Atleti.

Don't know what the **** La Liga was thinking with that scheduling. You assume Barca and Real will reach the quarters, so why make El Clasico the next fixture instead of letting teams from your own league go all out and rep well in the CL.

U.S. Soccer ends youth residency program after 18 years

It produced top talents like Landon Donovan, but now, U.S. Soccer will have to find another way to develop its budding stars moving forward.


On Friday, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced that it has ended its youth residency program in Bradenton, Florida after 18 years, which had previously helped the country’s top young prospects develop while receiving an education.

The residency program guided players like Landon Donovan and Michael Bradley to the heights of the U.S. Men’s National Team, in addition to 31 other squad members.

“One of our main hopes when establishing the U.S. Soccer Residency Program was that at some point advancements in youth player development would make its existence no longer necessary — we believe that point has been reached,” USSF president Sunil Gulati said in a statement on Friday.

“Not only did the program develop a number of key players for our national teams, it served as a model for academies across the country to follow. With the U.S. Development Academy having achieved high standards in preparing our young athletes, we are now able to impact future American professionals on a much larger scale.”

Instead, the U.S. Soccer Development Academy has become the nation’s foremost resource for helping provide youth players with an outlet to hone their skills. The USSDA currently features 150 clubs within its ranks, including youth academies for the majority of MLS franchises.

Higuain is a bum for Argentina, but make no mistake he's a club legend.

That's part of the reason we resent him so much.

Not true.

We resent the strikers who are stars for their club teams but underperform in key moments for Argentina: Higuain and Aguero

We don't resent Messi, I think his "retirement" made us realize how much we actually love him.

We don't resent Mascherano, he's probably one of the most loved Argentine players of all time.

We love our "no names," I'm talking Biglia, Romero, Rojo, Mercado, etc. Guys who were under-valued until they showed their worth for the NT.

So basically we just hate Kun and Pipita, because they cost us trophies.
