It's definitely offensive as hell and most definitely symbolizes racism, but my big thing about it has always been that you lost. This was a flag representing the south wanting to be their own country basically and they were defeated and never again. Why hang on to that. It's same as the Nazi flag. The entire culture was wiped out and doesn't exist anymore like that. Why follow something the world eradicated.

With how PC the united states is getting I think that flag was the last thing racist people had that could still say "i'm better than a n*****" with out actually having to say the word. The last thing they could be "proud" of without being overtly racist, by their standards at least. I don't see why they don't get that southern "heritage" and southern culture can be just as real without a symbol of racism.

Because it's a way of keeping underclass white people in check and not thinking for themselves.

As bad as they have it, at least they aren't black. And they are in their position because all of the advantages given to minorities. They need someone to blame, so it's democrats and minorities.

They use this flag to represent white supremacy in Germany cause the Nazi flag is banned. Think about that for a sec. People who think this represents southern pride are racist period.

I worked in probation over there in Douglas County for the past two years. Crazy seeing this going down. I usually feel as if Atlanta is somehow an exception to the racism that plagues the South. But this article serves as a reminder that there's still work to be done. Progress, while a great and commendable accomplishment, shouldn't lead to complacency. Sadly I think that happens most times. Shout out the grand jury for bringing these mf'ers up on the charges. I know all of the judges in Douglas County. I hope they get Emerson. He's about that "throw the book at em" action.

i went to the casino in memphis and a guy there said he was a sheriff 

asked me if i was familiar with douglas county

Atlanta is somewhat of an exception because of the power of the Black dollar down there. So many successful Black men and women in different industries down there, that truly is the Black Mecca in America, I'm sure things can get done down there if need be
