"I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children," Woods said in a statement released last week. "I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try."

Woods has not been seen in public since the accident.

And the revised agreement provides for a staggered schedule of payments spread out over five years that could be worth upward of $75 million. So for Elin to collect $80 million, she'll need to stay with Tiger another seven years, be a dutiful wife in showing up with him at social events and in public as if they were still the perfect couple, and sign a nondisclosure form that will prevent her from ever telling her story. Even if she lasts only two more years, she'll still walk away with nearly twice what she was entitled to under the original prenup.

Tiger's advisers, who have successfully gotten the couple into counseling sessions, believe that keeping the marriage intact will help Tiger keep his corporate sponsors and bolster his dented image. Today is an especially dubious day for Tiger Woods. Oh sure, his life didn't necessarily fall any further into the commode. There were no additional sponsorship dumpings (so far) or any more garden-variety skanks that came forward with tales of Tiger's derring-do (so far). No, today was the 19th consecutive day that Tiger Woods news made the front cover (not the sports page cover) of the New York Daily News Star TimesPost. The last event to make the tabloids front page 19 straight times? The 9/11 attacks. Those were a pretty big deal, obviously, but The Fall of Tiger Woods certainly makes his one of the most dubious stories of all time, not just the decade, whatever the hell we're calling it. This isnt the case with Tiger. He had a prenupe. In spite of his infidelity. She shouldnt get anywhere close 80 million unless he lets it drag out and getsplayed. Mick Jagger had a kid with his mistress and he only paid 25 million.
