Anyone have any idea why some of the cover art for my music in google play music doesn't show up on my nexus 7 or gnex but it does when i have play music open in my laptops browser? I have OCD about having cover art for all my music and since it's not showing up it's driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.

On the desktop site I delete the cover art when this happens and manually re-add it. Then I completely close the Android app, clear the cache, and reopen it. Sometimes I have to do it a few times in the app to get it to work.

SMS/MMS coming to Hangouts :hat

googlehangouts31.jpg

Wondering what new features we'll see once Google official unveils the Nexus 5? Android Police has a hint: an overhauled, more comprehensive Hangouts app. A pair of leaked screenshots seem to deliver on a promise Google made back in May, and show evidence of an SMS integrated hangout app. An image of the app's conversation window shows that messages will be branded by their delivery method, including a "via SMS" tag next to the text's time stamp. It hints at a more unified communication platform for Android, but the settings page helpfully illustrates that using Hangouts for SMS is optional -- a check mark allows the feature to be cleanly disabled for those who prefer to keep their conversations segregated. Although these shots line up with previous rumors, Android Police can't say when the update might be available or if it will actually coincide with the release of KitKat or the Nexus 5. Either way, we're looking forward to finding out.

Oh and also:

Report suggests Nexus 5 will start at just $299 despite monster specs

If the latest report about Google’s upcoming Nexus 5 hero phone ends up being accurate, there is really only one smartphone Android enthusiasts will be eying this holiday season. We already know just about everything there is to know about the Nexus 5 thanks to a recent service manual leak, but the phone’s price and release date remain mysteries. Where the price is concerned, however, a new rumor suggests that Google may achieve the unthinkable and match the entry-level pricing of last year’s Nexus smartphone.

According to a single unnamed source speaking with PhoneArena, Google’s upcoming Nexus 5 will start at just $299 without any subsidies. That’s right — though shaky at best, if this report pans out the new Nexus phone and its cutting-edge specs will cost the same amount off contract as some phones cost on contract.

The report says $299 will get you a 16GB Nexus 5 that’s powered by a 2,300 mAh battery. Curiously, the blog suggests that the $399 version of the next pure Google phone won’t just double the storage to 32GB, but will also increase the battery size to 3,000 mAh.

Recent leaks revealed that additional Nexus 5 specs include a 5-inch full HD 1080p display, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, support for inductive charging, NFC and Android 4.4 KitKat. Photos of the phone have leaked several times now, including once by Google, and a pair of Nexus 5 videos recently leaked as well.

The phone will reportedly be announced during a press conference later this month and it is expected to be released soon after.

I see a couple S3s on craigslist for around 200. I have a trip I'm taking overseas for a while later this year is it worth it to just cop the S3 and then wait for the S5 next summer or is the s4 really that big a difference?
Get the S4 . It is a big diffence over the s3. And $200 is too much for a s3 right now

I don't think so with this update, but eventually Hangouts will be a one-stop shop.
Either way, I am all for adding SMS/MMs to Hangouts. It will hurt and allow people to remove messaging, hadncent, textra, and whatever else people are using out there these days. I normally just hangout with all my friends anyways.

I wonder how Apple will treat Hangouts in the App Store with that update? I wonder if they would play the "too much like an Apple app" BS on them with that one?

They let Maps through...I can't see how they justify that and others but not this.

I wonder if this means the merging of their GVoice app as well, or just Android's "iMessage" equivalent?
Doubt it.  For it to be a true iMessage equivalent, Google will have to grab their nuts and force all Android devices to use Hangouts as the messaging app, and/or force OEMS to integrate Hangouts into their messaging apps.  This wont happen and this will just be another android feature that doesnt make it as far as it should sadly.  To be honest most android users know nothing of Hangouts and have probably never even opened the app.  The reason iMessage went over so well is because Apple integrated it seamlessly into their messaging app.  Users didnt have to open/add a whole other app for the added features.

To really advance the Android platform, Google needs to be less "open", sad to say.

Yea that is true in a sense. It isn't the stock messaging app and would have to become that. I know myself and my friends would use it, but we are all techies :lol

I wonder if they'll do that in Kit Kat? I don't think it'd be bad for Google to do it. People could still download and use WhatsApp, Textra, Chomp, Handcent, GO Sms, Viber, etc. I love Hangouts. There are a few tweaks (aside from SMS/MMS) that'd I'd like to see, but overall I think it's a great feature of the Google apps.

They kind of already have OEMs make their Contacts app similar to Stock, so I don't see why they couldn't make this as an integrated part of the system.

The reality is that there are LOTS of people who have no idea what iMessage or Hangouts are. To them it's all just a text message they're sending their buddy and they don't know the difference between the two.

Do any of you guys use an app for badge notifications? I'm using this app called Missed It! but it no longer plays well with Textra.

What do you guys suggest for a nice case for Note 3? I Like the Spigen cases but I want a case with a kickstand :lol
Ive been rocking with the S2 for a while now and have a kickstand on my case and loved it when traveling on a plane watching movies.

I got rid of hangouts months ago but hopefully kitkat version will be better. will you then be able to send/read texts from a computer too?

basedmod, more info on the cm caf thing? I just know about the focal issues.

It is heating up in here. iMessage is my favorite thing ever :lol. So a step towards that direction for Android :hat
LG introducing curved and cable batteries for future products

Two new battery technologies to power a future lineup of devices from LG
Following up on statements that it has already begun producing 6-inch curved displays, LG is also announcing that it is ready to produce curved batteries. Building up on previous advancements in battery technology that yielded the "stepped battery" in the LG G2, the LG Chem division of the company is now making the move to produce both curved and what it calls "cable batteries."

According to LG, the company has a patent on a "Stack & Folding" technology that lets it build a battery with several steps in it, producing the end result of a curved battery for devices in that form factor. Beyond the logical step of a curved phone, LG says that the batteries could be applied to watches and glasses as well. The curved batteries have already entered mass production, and will power the next set of phones from LG.

Looking farther into the future is the cable battery, which is physically bendable and malleable. The battery takes the shape of any other electronic cable, can be tied into a knot or turned in any way and still work and is even waterproof. LG sees the cable battery being used in wearable gadgets of all kinds that require being flexible rather than rigid.
