Minnesota might be near the front of the line

Yeah, in Duluth. Far away from any meaningful civilization.

Yes, I'm mad.

Monte Video or some place out where nothing matters will likely get it first.

What are some of the first things I should look at getting for the phone to experience Android better and really utilize this new phone on a day to day basis. I just started working at a local IT company as well and will be accessing a lot of DropBox files and stuff that we use to manage clients so that will be nice to have more screen as well.

I'm also on ATT, so will I be able to just take out my microsim from iPhone 4 and pop it into the Nexus or will I have to go there to get something straightened out?

Thanks for any tips or recommendations.

First and foremost, congrats on the new job. :hat I work in IT too, and IMO, android is definitely the platform best fit for use by tech heads. The best way to get the android experience out of your device is just to tinker with it and figure things out. In fact, its open source, so Google actually WANTS you to. You can keep it simple by rooting your device, or you can get as complex as making commits to github.

The biggest difference in everyday use, to me, is the ability to change launchers. The most popular ones (Nova, Apex, ADW) take after the stock look with the bonus of customization, but there are a lot of options for you to use to tailor your device to your liking. here's a screenshot of my nexus, which is probably wayyyy different from your friends one.

You'll find that the Play Store has all the same major apps as the App Store with subtle differences in theming and capabilities, but your Dropbox, Twitter, etc will all be there in addition to a plethora of other third party options that you can use to your liking. Like carver carver said, you can change your keyboard too. since you work in IT, and may have a use for it, I recommend Hacker's Keyboard which is a customizable full QWERTY, great for typing out C:\ directories on the go (and it has directional arrows, which are useful for posting on #NT :hat ).

If your SIM is more than a year old, you probably gotta get a new one. But other than that, you're good to go. Just mess with stuff, check out this thread, and jump into it. Id recommend waiting for a month or so before going on to root your phone and all that, just so in case you hate it you don't have to go through the gruelling process of unrooting. Enjoy!

:lol

No price on it yet or is it going to be the same as the black and white versions?
No word, I would imagine its going to be the same price though. It says it should be available starting 2/4 though.

here's the article

It looks like the red Nexus 5  may hit Google Play on Feb. 4, according to this week's internal Sprint Playbook.

The headline pretty much says it all — "2/4/14: Google Nexus 5 in red available in Google play stores." Still nothing official, of course, and things have changed before. But we did recently see the red Nexus 5 out of the box, So stay tuned.

So, who's buying?

Is there an app - radio station app that I can put in "2pac or Tupac" and get just HIS songs? I hate how Pandora throws in similar artist, I understand that's the bases of the app, to find new - similar artist or songs, but I just want "that" artist, not clone rejects.

Google Music subscription would do the trick as well. I grabbed it when they were doing the initial low price last year and I have really liked it. Don't even really bother with other music streaming apps

Just picked up a Nexus 7 16GB for $150+tax from Staples. :Nthat Had them price match microcenter and then add a $30 coupon on top of it. Seems like they caught on though :{

Anyone have any recommendation on ROMs or kernels to use? I'm on PA on my Nexus 4 and am willing to try something new, but PA is what I'm thinking for now.

Speaking of which. Is there a way to keep Google Music from censoring your songs? This happens randomly throughout different albums.. sometimes F**k is F**k and sometimes F**k is completely blanked. Odd. Thoughs?

Wait, they have edited your personal you uploaded? I have never seen or heard of anyone with this issue before. I thought you meant you were listening to a song/album from Google. I was going to say that you just picked a clean version instead of the explicit one.

Pretty much what has been mentioned with spotify or a google music subscription

So your songs are actually edited or is it just the text of the song edited?

Now I'm gonna pay more attention, never noticed this at all.
