people really stay on group messages like that? have yall not heard of groupme? and for those saying you want that continuity between computer and phone, understand that android doesnt make desktops or all-in-ones to my knowledge. Meaning, youre asking android to display continuity through windows desktops/laptops/all-in-ones (not THAT unlikely but im sure WP will have somethin to say about it) and Apple products....

and idunno bout yall, but i have NEVER caught myself thinking "i wish i could answer this text/call from my computer" im just saying...
Groupme is fine, but its nice to have the feature already baked into the O/S, not in another app thats sucking more battery life.

[rant]  Either way, Google needs to work on refining the features it already has.  Theres already enough features anyway.  Messaging on Android is loooonnnggg overdue for an overhaul.  Apple has taken so many pages out of Google's book, whats stopping google from taking a few out of Apple's book and making a messaging service that can more seamlessly tie together Android devices if not all devices, as Apple has done with iMessage on iOS?  Because Hangouts aint gettin it.  With all those highly paid developers, are you telling me Google cant make Hangouts better than what it is now?  Cant they make it so that all SMS apps, even third party, have to go through Google's servers and implement the Hangouts API?

SMS has been basically the same for years and years.  Its time for something new.  Apple has realized it, Google needs to catch up(cant believe i'm saying this...).

And do more to make sure these manufacturers dont take away from the android experience.  I'm not saying take away the ability to skin, but put even more guidelines in place so that the core experience, features, and interactions have to be the same across the platform.  Google has gotten off to a good start with KitKat and the new agreements with manufacturers, but they have alot more work left to clean up the Android Ecosystem.  [/rant]

iMessage is the number one reason I can't stay with Android. I tried to switch numerous times recently to flagship devices and basically felt like a cripple without it. It is CLUTCH. And you don't have to download and sign up for anything. I think 90% of people I talk to have iPhones/iMessage.

I want hangouts to get there as well but with all these different manufactures and phones etc it seems very unlikely for them to get on the same page (when it comes two one standard messaging system)

My friends (all with iPhones) leave me out of group texts cause I'm the only one with an Android [emoji]128557[/emoji]

You just have to use it for awhile. I honestly didn't get it either.

Bro I've bought an iphone every year the last 3 years. I use them for 3-4 months sell em and end up back on Android.

I'm still trying to figure out how yall don't get the group messages. I never had any issues.

New iPhone sounds tempting, but I'm gonna stay on Android unless the iPhone can run BitTorrent and enables drag and drop.

Gonna get my mom an LG Luicd 3 with Vz edge and pay it off ASAP might go on 20gb since it will be 150 or so for both lines with my work discount and the vzw edge discount

Text, yes. Call, nah.

I won't front I use iMessage a lot. It's actually the main reason I even keep my iPhone. It's been clutch while living overseas, and it definitely works with just wifi.

Hangouts has made minor improvements but it's nowhere close to imessage.

And for the dude that said he has never wanted to reply back to text from his computer. U don't know what your missing. I literally use imessage from my MBP daily it's one of my favorite features.

Imessage/ FaceTime-audio were game changers.

Game changers if I cared about any of that. To me the computer reply stuff is a gimmick. Something you never needed but found a use for because they put it there. Cuz personally, if I'm on a computer.. Texting... I'd rather just use a messenger to work faster. Like Facebook for example. To me it's as useful as that heart rate monitor LG or Samsung or whoever put on the phone. You can call it a game changer but at the end of the day most people won't have a use for that cheesy ish

Lucid 3 on edge? She must not be eligible for upgrade for a while. I typically recommend higher end phones to be placed in edge. Lucid 3 is like 50 with a 50 rebate, you'll be better off just doing that.

Edge just changed the length of the plan also. It's 20 months now and 60 percent due before your able to edge up.

Do you mean the facebook messenger from your phone or actual facebook messages from the computer?

I think you would be surprised how useful it is to text but maybe thats just. I've always appreciated the iOS ecosystem tho. Theres been plenty of days where I text more from the computer than the iPhone but maybe thats just me

I'm doing a Luicd because it's cheap and for the line access discount, I'm gonna pay the phone off in full

iMessage is useful in certain situations, like if you're traveling to other countries and can only get wifi to text or if you're like me and like being able to transition your conversation from the phone to the laptop. If Android can someone integrate my texts so I can use my laptop to receive them and send them I'd be happy. But this whole thing where I have to connect a third party app to my network and I can only see texts, is pointless for me. I think Verizon has it where you can text from the computer.

Is there a way to permanently change my LCD size? I like it at around 400 and use LCDdensity to do it, but every time I turn my phone off I gotta go back in there and do it agian. A minor inconvenience but still.

Texdroider DPI or a build.prop edit will do the trick.

why don't y'all just get a google voice #? across all platforms and no text fees from carriers

that's my main text app, which i then supplement with gmail to send vids & pictures

Google needs to build on the concepts that they've already built not build new ones. :{ And why does it take them forever to roll out new updates. Double :{ :{

Making me want to jump ship to apple.

Its not Google. Its the oems that use android. Theres hundreds of them so its a bit harder to push updates out like apple. Apple makes the phones and the software so it's easier. Google just has the software

Like look at how nexus devices get updates asap when galaxy is a little behind. Even then, verizon galaxy takes forever

Mighty text can send and receive thru the comp easy. I used to use it. Airdroid works too but i wouldnt use it. Its useful to transfer files without cables

Apple to Apple you can iMessage and continue on your laptop, but not with someone with an Android because then it is a normal text message.

You can use Google Voice (until they merge that in with Hangouts) to text from your computer/phone with anyone. They even have extensions to show them beside the URL bar and not keep the page open.

If you want to use only your data and not a text message to message someone on your phone and/or someone on a pc, and be able to continue that very conversation between phone/tablet/pc (someone else with an Android device)....the default Hangout app does just that

I have used an iPhone 4/4s/5 and an iPad 2/Mini and still own an iPad Air, so I don't need to hear the "you just have to use it to know" stuff, lol

Sure it is nice for convos between others with Apple devices, but the same can done between Android users with Hangouts and you don't have to have it count against your text messaging limit, and you can do it over wifi as well. You guys are definitely boosting iMessage to be this end all be all messaging app more than it needs to be.

Should I pick this HTC One (OG) up for 100 bucks, It's kinda beat but I could use a backup, good deal?. Is a housing swap out of the question?
