Groupme is fine, but its nice to have the feature already baked into the O/S, not in another app thats sucking more battery life.
people really stay on group messages like that? have yall not heard of groupme? and for those saying you want that continuity between computer and phone, understand that android doesnt make desktops or all-in-ones to my knowledge. Meaning, youre asking android to display continuity through windows desktops/laptops/all-in-ones (not THAT unlikely but im sure WP will have somethin to say about it) and Apple products....
and idunno bout yall, but i have NEVER caught myself thinking "i wish i could answer this text/call from my computer" im just saying...
[rant] Either way, Google needs to work on refining the features it already has. Theres already enough features anyway. Messaging on Android is loooonnnggg overdue for an overhaul. Apple has taken so many pages out of Google's book, whats stopping google from taking a few out of Apple's book and making a messaging service that can more seamlessly tie together Android devices if not all devices, as Apple has done with iMessage on iOS? Because Hangouts aint gettin it. With all those highly paid developers, are you telling me Google cant make Hangouts better than what it is now? Cant they make it so that all SMS apps, even third party, have to go through Google's servers and implement the Hangouts API?
SMS has been basically the same for years and years. Its time for something new. Apple has realized it, Google needs to catch up(cant believe i'm saying this...).
And do more to make sure these manufacturers dont take away from the android experience. I'm not saying take away the ability to skin, but put even more guidelines in place so that the core experience, features, and interactions have to be the same across the platform. Google has gotten off to a good start with KitKat and the new agreements with manufacturers, but they have alot more work left to clean up the Android Ecosystem. [/rant]
