Can patents be denied or reversed under grounds that they should be universal? Like how can Apple have rights to linking a number in a website directly to your dialer. Seems like every smartphone should have this feature.

destroyed? lol they may not win the case but geeze dont be delusional most of these patent law suits have done nothing on both sides of the field. NO ONE has been destroyed by any of these lawsuits and the only people who have REALLY been affected are the companies that got roped into Microsofts patent licensing.

I've been putting off figuring out how to not get prompted for system updates on the phone though... I always end up rebooting so the prompt goes away fora  few days.

It was my first time doing it too though. Problem I had was common among users using Heimdall on Lion. I just gave up since it wasn't working...I really only wanted it for the Hotspot hack anyways. If you wanna help me out that'd be awesome.
There's a youtube channel I used for all my rooting stuff... Ill post it when I'm home from work.
Heres the Channel I talked about.

Okay maybe not destroyed, however these patent lawsuits are causing companies to be very careful on how they may implement their own technologies. Patents weren't meant to be used to sue the next guy but allow the next guy to innovate better if they felt that existing patent wasn't effective.

I'm not a patent lawyer but this is the insight i have. These type of patents that apple are claiming are IP patents some people feel that IP patents should be universal. In this situation apple has the patent claiming "HOT-LINKING" we all should know how a hot-link works. You click it and it takes you to another page, open up a program etc.... Apple owns the patent to a open web standard but on a phone os.

I might not be correct in my insight, so doing a little investigation on how patents works is on you. It highly complicated, and highly confusing. I'll try to get some articles that can sum it up.

Any Evo 4G MIUI owners? Waiting on that MIUI v4 ICS?

Ive gave this build a quick run through, it was ported from the N1 MIUI v4 build, it's not a perfect port, but it's good. Heres the good and bad;

Ill start off with the bad,
- Gallery is buggy/laggy, a handful of times it would not load the pics, just the ICS action bar or the screen would be black. It would F/C a few times
- Sound Settings F/Cs
- Immediately had to turn off live wallpaper, made the rom extremely choppy, that's where a dual core processor is much needed.
- Market was buggy, downloading/updating an app caused a slight screen flicker for a few seconds.
- Themes does not work (I was already aware of that)
- Chinese characters or apps built in. DND and MI-ONE app. You can delete them though.

Now the good,
- The rom is very smooth, especially for a beta like build.
- Scrolling feels great, just like the Gingerbread builds
- ICS MIUI v4 is the most beautiful rom ever. Everything looks high quality, professional. It's ICS w/ an MIUI (orange) makeover.
- ICS Apps are awesome, scrollable and size changing widgets on MIUI! Gmail is dope, makes the gingerbread version look like *#%.
- WIFI, BT, DATA etc. works.
- Downloaded Chrome Beta, pretty slick app, but couldn't get any pages to load, strange.
- Stock ICS browser worked though, looks great, and fast.
- Multi tasking card sliding is slick, just like ICS, just slide away to kill an app or page.

Since this is a new rom, your gonna have to re-add all your apps, text etc. I didn't do any customization (themes is broke). but the stock feels is nice though. Although I flashed back to Swipers 2.6.6 build ( I miss my theme lol) , this ICS build def be a daily driver. It just looks dope, feels great. The few F/Cs I had are not deal breakers so far.
