That untitled Avengers movie must be super long. only 2 coming out that year.
 
I typed up some notes but I lost my drafts on here. I went through most of the thread since the movie released.

I saw it on Wednesday and immediately wanted to go right back into another showing. I wish I saw it on a Friday/Saturday full theater to get that experience. I felt like my small audience wasn't as into it because it was a Wednesday afternoon, but oh well.

This movie was incredible. Killmonger was an outstanding villain. The way they handled his story, his POV, his motivations, the music and camera effects when he was on screen (the rotating camera as he took the throne is easily a top MCU moment of all-time), the use of hip hop, I was just so impressed at how they handled his character. Ryan Coogler is a legend already. There's not many movies where after viewing not only do I want to watch it again, but I will actually immediately watch a bootleg online version JUST to get another taste of the movie the same night. Creed was the exact same way. I left the movie and found the soundtrack on Spotify and tried watching it that night.. only to go back to the theater a few days later. He just knows how to make compelling movies.

They managed to do so many incredible things within a single movie. Showcasing Wakanda in a way that you felt like you were given a glimpse and understanding into this world and you wanted to explore it for hours. True world building is really hard to do in blockbusters and when it's done well, it's something special. When you want this fictional place to actually be real so you can see more of it, that's something special. The James Bond/Q scene with his sister breaking down all the tech, amazing. The casino scene? Thrilling and just plain cool. The warriors falls challenger scenes? Powerful and moving. There's just so many points of this movie where I thought to myself "This is so much fun"

And that's not even scratching the surface of the greater strengths of the movie. It's been mentioned but it can't be overstated enough.. for this movie to have such critical and commercial success is truly special and important. The video of those two kids saying "I'm that one" is significant. Truly something important to be able to have a black movie succeed so well.

As a MCU movie, I was so relieved they didn't shoehorn in IW material or throw in unnecessary Avengers to the movie. It didn't need it and I'm so glad they let it stand on it's own. How it ranks within the MCU I'm not really sure. Definitely top 5, probably top 3, but I don't really have my list solidified so I don't really care to rank it. It was excellent.

Some issues, of course. The CGI for one was something I noticed, especially with the final fight on the train tracks. I noticed early on from the jungle scene that the Panther reminded me more of Spider-Man with the CGI movements and it felt a bit sloppy. That was really the "biggest" thing that jumped out to me. I can't wait to see it again and to explore more of this world and Coogler's vision for Black Panther.

Technically yes but actually no.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel comes out in July of 2019 and while the MCU is creatively in control its still a Sony movie.

Coogler and MBJ related. Did a Creed rewatch. I have always liked “The Fire” from How I Got Over but I gained a newfound appreciation for the song after hearing it in this scene.

You talking like Wakanda is open to everyone. Its not.

Wakanda having advanced medical facilities really doesnt play in to Rhodes should've went against the government's of the world cuz a scumbag can't read.
