Official: Captain Marvel is Set in 1995

The answer to what year in the 90s Captain Marvel is set in has an official answer now, as Disney has revealed that the movie is set in 1995.

The revelation comes from the official Marvel section of Disney’s Japanese website a user on Reddit found, where they describe the movie as taking place in 1995 before the founding of The Avengers:

‘95 was such a great year. Have vivid memories of the local Arcade near flushing getting Street Fighter Alpha and Mortal Kombat 3 and me being excited out my mind to play both. Seeing an animality for the first time cause EGM had codes to fatalities,friendship and animalities the week the cabinet was hitting arcades....man

I'll always remember how he told the story of riding on a plane sitting next to Dee Sneider and dude was trying to pick his brain about old comics and the meaning behind specific panels and Stan was like "Dude slow down, I am still trying to remember where we're flying to."

Thanks for creating an infinite universe for all of us to enjoy. Those comics truly changed my life.
