What to do if your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere?

Let's say your car broke down 1000 miles from home in some rural place with no cell signal. What would you do? Would you panic thinking "i saw this same exact scenario in a horror movie" Would you walk to the nearest gas station even though it may be 50 miles away?

Probably burn my spare tire in hopes, someone see's the smoke signals...

Walk and try to find a call box or just sit tight in the car and wait for someone to drive by and ask for help.
