What's good with Nike Elite Basketbal Crew socks? (SOCKS FTW!)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll pickup a pair of regular elites today and try em out. I really just need a quality dry fit sock.. The padding and compression from the hypers is unnecessary. Just when I got my first pair I thought well hyper elite sounds better than elite, must be a better sock! And they worked great so I kept stocking up on em.

Have you tried the normal Dri-Fit socks? I own Elites, Hypers, Vapors but find myself grabbing the regulars the mostm. Easier to put on lol.

I use regular Dri-Fits on a daily basis and running but for basketball, I got to go with Elites all the time.

Here are the pics of the nylon strands coming off my Hyper Elites, anyone else has this problem? It has about 8-10 wears/wash the most.

Do not have the same problem with regular Elites.

Definitely happens on all my hyper elites.. elastic compression strands break and poke out mostly around the ankle area after numerous wears and washes.  They get worse :D  BUT, I have pairs that are 2.5 years old and still going strong performance wise despite looking hairy.  I wash them on normal warm cycle, but hang dry.  I never put them in the dryer.   The regular elites might not have the added compression elastic (dunno, don't own any).

Well, I checked out the regular elites at the big green sporting goods store today, and they're barely thinner.  To the point where I don't think it would make a difference.  However, I only need a little more room.  My newer hyper elites make it a little too tight in the XX8 SEs, but my older pairs fell pretty good since the padding has been compressed/squished over time.  I'll just stick to the old pairs, and maybe mix in some regular dri-fits to see if they'll work (they are obviously thinner).  I'm afraid they move around too much though in the shoe and cause added friction.

I think it's mostly the difference in material, HyperElite has a lot more nylon and I do believe that's the material that's ripping and sticking out.

ELITE
62% polyester/21% nylon/15% cotton/2% spandex

HYPERELITE
46% nylon/35% polyester/13% cotton/6% spandex

Its definitely a prob of all hyperelites. Mine have strands poking out after 1 wash. Still works fine though. Just annoying to look at.

How does the Elite Versatility socks differ from Regular Elites and Hyper Elites?

They're a little softer. Very simular to the feel of these

I have a narrow foot so before I was folding the top of ^^^ sock down & wearing a running sock over it. Now I just wear 2 Versatilies.

I've done some experimenting on socks lately:

http://store.nike.com/ca/en_gb/pd/h...w-basketball-socks/pid-10916757/pgid-11173369 - the reason why these are on sale is because the color is OFF in person. I bought the Yellow pair and in person it looks like Pink.

http://store.nike.com/ca/en_gb/pd/e...rew-football-socks/pid-10262710/pgid-11101549 - they are actually good, not too thick that it bunches inside the shoe

http://store.nike.com/ca/en_gb/pd/elite-cushioned-crew-running-socks/pid-10033133/pgid-11101487 - these are the best socks for hoopin in my opinion. Just like nicki minaj they're thick at the right places. i hate the bulk of Elite socks (although the added cushioning does help)

I use another pair that are for running and find them to be perfect. I just can't find them on the website.

Is the main reason you like the running socks due to being thinner?  What type of compression do they provide?  Thanks
