Who had a better run on top and who do you think did more for the rap game.

50 or Weezy? Discuss

Wayne.
Grammys/The special w/ Katie Couric + features on EVERYBODY song
and not to mention Wayne rode that wave to this current stage where he says nothing at all and still gets praise and goes almost platinum the first week AGAIN

50s run consisted of two albums, that movie, and some business ventures.
Waynes was allllll them damn mixtapes, features, C3, Best Rapper Alive claims, and ushering in a wave of uber lazy rap.
he also brought in Nicki and Drake who run it now. 50 brought in...Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, & Olivia
The Game was Dre's doing he just plopped him on G-Unit and even still the Game never ran it like Drake and Nicki. so yeah...like i said..Wayne

Wayne easily. There's a reason he's where he's at in his career as an artist and label header, and 50's where's he at.

ferrari f50!!!

wayne gets the nod for longevity...but fifty was untouchable grodt days....untouchable..

Wayne.
Dude couldn't and still can't be touched.
There's pictures of him kissing another man in the mouth..
& he's still selling out shows.

Wayne, based on the success that young money has right now, 50 had a great run but his last few albums have been trash! wayne don't say much now either but the kids are eating it up!

No one was bigger than 50 Cent in his prime NO ONE. Its appalling that this gets brought up from time to time. The guy was unstoppable and took people who had no business being hot along with him for the ride. If you want to factor in longevity then it goes to Wayne but when it comes to their prime periods, then 50 has no equal.

when Wayne sells 11 mill on one record and puts out a movie we'll talk
dudes sayin Wayne must of been 9 in 03
Plus GRODT is better than anything Wayne or YM as a whole has every done
he said did more for hip-hop.
he didn't ask about quality.
wayne's run gave us Nicki and Drake.
who are now on their own huge runs. 50 sold 11 mil in 03. Wayne went plat in 1 week in 08.
different musical climates as far as sells and don't act like that's not a major factor.
then in 2011 C4 (even worse than C3) almost sold a mil in a week...in an even worse climate.

plus...GRODT made 50 Cent a media darling at the grammys huh?
oh wait...what? that was Wayne and C3?
oh okay.
50 Cent rode his run to being still musically sought after even while progressively getting worse huh?
oh wait that was Wayne?
50 Cent introduced the 2 new faces of hip-hop and POP huh?
ohhhhh waaaaaait...that's Wayne too huh?

"Aint no more to it..." - Sean "Puffy" Combs

cant underestimate the shady/aftermath vehicle that was behind 50. 50 ran the industry at one point

gotta say 50... he had the whole game on lock from music to other ventures that reached much further than anything ym has done

and damn the ones saying 50 y'all ain't even using the best argument.
at least bring up that he destroyed someone's career who was beyond hot.

How is this a question? 50 in his prime sold 11 million records, Wayne sold a millie first week,.but the massacre sold like 1.3 in 4 days. Jay had it perfect, "50 came through, like hurricanes do". Wayne had the better career though but thats a totally different subject

Fif in his prime killed the game. Dude had hooks, lyrics, features, and he was buff. Wayne had him on consistent sales, but prime wise, 50 was huge.

Wayne most definitely

You couldn't go anywhere without running into him between 07-09 . . .

Grammys, Katie Couric special, C3 Documentary (Quincy Jones one)

Incredible Mixtape run

Like people said, was the era that propelled him to where he can do nothing on a track and STILL sell out arenas

He kissed another grown man in the mouth and still had sold a million, TWICE

People bringing up 50's sales . . . It's probably even MORE of an accomplishment to go platinum first week in an era where any album can be attained through a Twitter or Google Search of the album name + any file sharing site.

And probably the most important remnant of the Wayne era, the rise of Drake. At that era anything touched by Wayne was gold. Drake would definitely be important in the culture today without Wayne, but stuff like Man of The Year Ft. Wayne and Brand New ft. Wayne and Ransom ft. Wayne definitely got a Canadian child actor who rapped about falling in love too deeply with women, that pass in certain circles . . .  Wayne also paid for all the costs it took to make So Far Gone, which of course propelled Drake up there with guys like Kanye, Eminem, Jay, Wayne in the eyes of the general rap fanbase.

I remember going on a school trip beginning of June 08 and I had some Drake on my mp3 player, nobody knew who Drake was, after all those random tracks with Wayne dropped, everybody was riding him hard the following school year.

Also, Nicki Minaj is not THE Nicki Minaj without Wayne. Tyga was relevant before YM, but definitely benefited from Wayne.

Bottom line, Wayne had more of a lasting impact in the internet era where fans are more hungry and attention spans are shorter. 50 did accomplish alot, but he was still benefiting from the era where EVERYONE was going platinum, and the really popular guys going Diamond.

Wayne was untouchable. If he hadn't done Rebirth (Beginning of the end) and gone to jail (don't know what happened, maybe probation, so no weed or syrup, but he's just not the same from before he went in), and hadn't lost that work ethic, he would probably still be on top . . . sad to see him fall off . . .

At the very prime of their careers, I'd have to say 50 because you can truly pinpoint his prime years, then his eventual decline. Wayne of course wins it long-term, but when exactly was his prime, if he's not still in it now? In terms of popularity/exposure, Wayne has been extremely steady. He's basically been a perennial fixture in the game since 2004. You can probably mention Carter III as his apex, but that's solely based on music. But from a public standpoint, Wayne has literally been everywhere for almost 9 years, and still to this day, (which is still sickening, but that's a story for another day.)

50 Cent was that dude from late 02-early 05, eventually pushing himself into every aspect of music, entertainment, business, etc. 50 basically had a phenomenal 2.5-3 year run, being everywhere, having multiple artists under him sell a lot (though they didn't sustain that success and ascend like Nicki & Drake), books, and a big budget movie to his name. The catalyst of 50's decline was bringing all those beefs into 2006, along with signing a bunch of people who you know would never drop albums (other than Mobb Deep). He's had hits since then, but it was a wrap after that from a music standpoint. Wayne on the other hand doesn't look like he has a decline in sight. he had a steady ascent to the top, and is still there, even without an album. He could smear doo doo in a cd case, have it shipped off to Best Buy & Target, and loads of people are flocking to get it (C4). So yes, 50 was bigger in his prime. Wayne has been a steady fixture in rap since 04, and has been the guy since 06.

This is tough.. For real..

Either way can be argued for..

But in my opinion.. Im givin the nod to Wayne.

Mainly on the strength of hes just got much more material.

And he let off raw in Lauren London.
