Door handles? Nah I'm good on that.

I don't hate American cars and I actually love the CTS/CTS-V coupe (if I were to buy an American car, it'll be the CTS-V Coupe) but I've sat inside it and it felt cheap compared to the Mercedes C-Class or even the new BMW 3-Series. The CTS-V had better materials for sure but as usual, American cars have to offer more power for your buck to sell and the regular CTS is no different.

I always wondered how many NT'ers that slurp these foreign cars even own one, or ever will for that matter, I'm guessing it's not a huge amount

I actually think American cars gets plenty of love here on NT, especially recently. You see people always saying "da hemi" or defending muscle cars. Majority still loves the M3, GTR and R8 but in the past year, lots and lots more NT are getting on the side if domestic carmakers.

hope ur not basing this off posts from just NT...

dudes in the south or middle america like american cars and probably hate on foriegn ones forsure.

in the past i would read a bunch of posts from doods that hated on jdm cars, calling ppl ricers, hating on erything foriegn etc. then i realized its just the internet, the haters can congregate to one place(forum) and start spewing bs like that and sometimes you forget that its just their opinion and not the worlds. i realize there are tons of ppl outside of the forums that have a different view.

The hate is pretty equal across the board imo.

2012 Charger got Edmunds.com breakthrough technology award. Also got on Ward's top 10 best interiors along with the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's a hot car, especially the SRT version. New 300 SRT8 is amazing as well.

"The Dodge Charger won for its cutting-edge — but intuitive — UConnect Touch infotainment user interface, its reliable Bluetooth hands-free and voice-recognition features, and its innovative active safety technology."

"The Dodge Charger embodies some of the most modern technology available in a car today, and it's available in a vehicle that's within the budget of average consumers," said Doug Newcomb, Senior Technology Editor at Edmunds.com. "Much of the technology, for example, is standard on the 2011 Dodge Charger Rallye, which has a base price of $27,625. And since the Charger is a sensible sedan that masquerades as a modern day muscle car, the total package is that much more attractive."

The generous size of the UConnect Touch system's 8.4-inch in-dash screen combines with a logical control layout to make infotainment — as well as climate and vehicle functions — easy to operate and access while driving. The Charger's UConnect Bluetooth hands-free phone system is one of the easiest to use, and the voice-recognition technology that controls some of the infotainment, navigation and climate systems is highly accurate. The Charger also includes a USB port for easy connection of an external music player as well as Bluetooth wireless music streaming, and the UConnect Touch 8.4N system includes an SD card slot for access to additional digital music files.

The Charger also features top safety technology such as blind-spot and rear cross-path detection. SmartBeam auto-adjusting HID headlamps, an 8-speed transmission and 164-LED taillights are all additional features that are not typically found on other vehicles in the Charger's class.

For those who want to add more bells and whistles, the Charger's $650 Navigation/Rear Back Up Camera Group option comes with a one-year trial subscription to Sirius Traffic and Travel Link services, as well as Sirius satellite radio. Autonet Mobile in-car Wi-Fi can also be added as a dealer-installed option.

People don't like american cars much because them @+#!# are ugly. Straight up.

The only American cars that get love are muscles and trucks/SUVs. Is that not obvious guys? Caddilac gets constant love because they are consistent with quality designs as well as the power to back them up. But outside of that, what american cars are really appealing to the eye? People buy domestic whips because they are affordable.

The right price on the $$$ tag makes all domestic vehicles look good to someone who doesn't have the funds to afford imports.

That makes no sense, cars like the Fusion easily compete with the Accord and Camry and their all in the same price range. Looks are subjective, you can't say all American cars besides sports cars and trucks are ugly, to you they may be. Fiesta and the Sonic are right on par with cars like the Fit and Mazda 2, hell the Sonic beat out the Mazda 2 on a head to head test just recently.

Really the only luxury brand America has is Cadillac and i guess you can count Lincoln. Companies like Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are out to compete with Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, etc. Cars from all these Japanese automakers as well as their American rivals are in the same range so their often cross shopped. Someone looking to buy a 3 series or a Lexus IS isn't considering a Fusion or Accord.

Its also an issue of price and rarity.

If you're looking for SUVs and Trucks, American brands can't be beat...

American cars don't really have "luxury" realms either. Caddilac is pretty much the only luxury US automaker. Lincoln is falling off and Mercury and Buick died off.

In the US you see the same cars all the time so people perceive them as being innately worse and they don't have the exotic feeling that imports do.

American cars suck.

They're out of touch with reality when it comes to making a good looking car. They have no imagination, they have to use models from 50 years ago to make a base today. Interior is still cheap, black slap, plastic crap.

Anybody can throw tons of horses under the hood, that's all American cars seem to know.

I would drive a japanese or euro car over American any day. Only American car that gets my props is the Caddilac CTS line, but it's underpinning are German, ha! Vettes are cool too, if that's your thing.

American cars get plenty of love

CTS-V won a zillion awards a couple years ago.

I see tons of Chevys, Caddies, Fords, Buicks, Saturns, etc on the roads.

Each model has its pros and cons.

So you're telling me that if BMW, Audi, and Mercedes all made entry level vehicles in the price range of the fiesta and the sonic they wouldn't sell more vehicles than Ford/Chevy/Dodge?
There's a big reason why you see more Toyotas and Hondas/Nissans on the street rather than Fords and Chevy's. The design of domestic cars are trash. Given even the price range, I see more Honda Civic/Accords on the street than anything Ford has on the street. It doesn't matter who they're competing with, the bottom line is, the cars are ugly, and outside of the ones I named, there is no real appealing domestic cars. Its not just my opinion, its obvious when you are out driving to work/school/etc. I know way more people with import vehicles than I know with domestic cars.

I see more Chargers on the street than I see Ford Fusions.

Because iirc they got the guy who designed for Aston Martin to make the car.

It's also what makes it look good, I saw it in person at the autoshow and people were thinking Aston Martin made a sedan at a quick glance.

That's another thing, The blatant replication of designs from imports into domestic cars is unappealing. Sure that's cool to some people who may not know or just love the design, but this ir reminiscent of the Rolls Royce/Chrysler 300 designs.

Remember when Ford pretty much %$++*$ up Jaguars reputation?

Ford Focus is also very European in design, iirc it is inspired by the Euro hatches and that might be why it looks somewhat good.

Makes sense, its the continuation of the Escort which has deep roots in rally racing. If they released a 4wd focus Id cop.

I have a honda civic as my primary car and a 1991 toyota corolla as a backup. The corolla is still going on strong with almost no issues
