I have a little bit of an issue with this statement. I myself was a very very casual WNBA viewer prior to this season. I have paid a lot of attention this year. Based on this post, I am not allowed to give my two cents because I didnt really care that much before? Miss me with that.

You would think that longtime fans of the league would want new viewers and fans. But the way they have been treated by many is that they are not welcome. WNBA is picking up steam and growing yet the new fans are being criticized and judged by the old ones. Its fascinating.

New genuine fans of the Ware always welcome, especially men.

EYE like that more casuals like yourself are paying attention this season.

Just don't care for the hot take grifters like Screamin' A riding the wave of popularity the W is experiencing this season to get their agendas.

I only started watching cause of CC, before her all I did was talk down on the WNBA, and called it the saddest form of basketball ever.

But now, to me, its the BEST, I owe this feeling 100% to Caitlin Clark.

This next week or so is going to be wild for the 8th spot. Liking my Mystics chances now that they decided not to tank.

Mystics face the Lynx at home on Sunday, then play Chicago and then the Dream twice.
Chicago has the Sparks then Dallas then the Mystics (then Minnesota)
Atlanta has Dallas tonight then the Fever, the Lynx and then the Mystics twice

Just need the sky to lose tonight and then things get interesting

I hear you. But hosts like SAS and others talk about what topics/leagues are hot. Since the WNBA is getting national attention, it makes sense for those types of shows to start paying attention and covering it now. I personally dont like SAS period, but its not because of how he is latching on to a league that he didnt give two s**ts about before. He is in a tough spot. Either he talks about it and covers it, or he has morons like Monica Mcnutt come at him for ignoring it again. Lose lose situation.

Because if he talked about women's basketball years ago, people would have changed the channel. ESPN shows like that talk about whats popular and what draws the most eyeballs. SAS' shows dont talk about baseball much. They NEVER talk about Hockey or the MLS. Why? Because they know their audience and their audience doesnt really want to hear about it.

That was something that was completely lost on McNutt and others who wanted to make SAS a villain there. Promoting the hell out of a product that no one cares about wouldnt make people care about it. The WNBA has something going for it now, so NOW promoting the hell out of it makes sense and will help the league grow.
