Like back in the day?

Really good read...thanks Peep.

Any info on the Hayes/Henry incident? Hayes always seemed like a real doucher to me and I've heard a few stories that definitely reinforce that perception.

The Masked Man's book has an entire chapter on racial stereotypes in professional wrestling. Anyone read it?

Eventually his drunken escapades caught up with him, as he was suspended for 60 days from his position as head Smackdown writer in April 2008 when Mark Henry complained about Hayes telling him "I'm more of a ****** than you are!" at the official WrestleMania 24 after party. That may have taught him to knock off the racial slurs, but obviously not to lay off the alcohol.

@CelticsPride34 - Do you have any of those PWG matches from this list? Dragon Gate ones as well?

He probably turned out the Hardyz too

Foley: "If he [CM Punk] becomes that guy collecting the part time check then he gets the last laugh but he does it at the expense of his ideals."
Was reading an excerpt from Mick Foley's interview on Austin's podcast on Cage Side Seats and I might have to check this out.

Sorry, but far too many rest holds.
They pace themselves in 20 min matches. In general regardless of company. But I could see how you would possibly feel that way. One thing I've noticed watching more njpw and other Japanese wrestling matches is a gradual build with submissions at the earlier phases and more of a frenetic pace towards the close. Did you watch the D Bryan and Kenta match posted on the previous page, cause that one had even more holds by comparison...

Anyone have an idea of who the new NXT General Manager might be? And will they even have JBL address why he's no longer in the position? They could have parlayed that into info on why he was being so grouchy on commentary last week but that would make sense...WWE Logic :frown:

@BigEgo24 , Remember that "rest holds" happen after action. In Japan, the matches start off slow. Lot of mat based wrestling. Lots of chain wrestling. It is not rest hold wrestling. Big difference. It seems slow a lot of times but it usually builds up gradually. That is just how they do things over there.

Don't forget to mention that in Japanese wrestling they stand in the middle of the ring and hit each other with forearms about 638 times..

When did they start doing that?..In the 80's the NWA and Japanese wrestlers always did "chop exchanges" in the middle of the ring, but it only happened 1 or 2 times a match..That trend continued into the 90's pretty heavily in WCW and Benoit carried it to WWE..But all the current Japanese matches I've been watching have matches where they exchange forearms several times per match and the "trading kicks to the chest" thing too..When did this start being a normal thing?..Do you know who is the "inventor" of this?..

It became mainstream during the Kenta Kobashi vs. Samoa Joe match. But it has always existed.

That Samoa Joe Kobashi match was super over rated. Kobashi was not "Kobashi" he used to be. It was actually just a decent. We were only hyped cause Joe was THE MAN at that time and Kobashi is a legend. Its like if we got a KENTA vs Koji Kanemoto match right now. Would be cool, but Koji ain't Koji no more.
