Assorted thoughts on the latest major WWE card:


-I wonder if the prevalence of part-timers dominating in their short term appearances is due to their relative freshness?


Their bodies haven't endured the constant grind of combat experienced by the regular roster, who spend all year beating up on each other and must suffer from the myriad small injuries that athletes in contact sports deal with...your hairline fractures, joint separations, spinal misalignments and back jackings.

In theory, they should both be able to operate at a higher level and absorb more punishment than someone who has been in all kinds of TLCs and Elimination Chambers and Hells in Cells as a normal part of life.

Whether they should be placed into immediate title contention by the championship committee is another matter, but it does make sense that they'd have an advantage over full time competitors.

 

-Sasha Banks should mind her own business or Nia Jax will.


-As expected, Sami Zayn was no match for the Samoan Submission Machine. His heart and resiliency are never in question, but he would be wise to apply additional respect to Joe's name in future.


-Enzo Amore is literally one of the most dangerous weapons in the squared circle today.


-I was pleased to see Neville retain his hold on the Purple Reign, showing himself as clearly superior to his challenger in the process. It is entirely possible that the King of the Cruiserweights is the most credible champion on Raw.


-The Club's theme grew on me a looooot, yeah, yeah, yeaaaaah!


-Finally, I was very disappointed in Big Strongman for his ill-advised high risk maneuver in his bout against "Big Dog" Reigns. He blew that match on a Falconesque level, but he's still growing as a competitor and I don't expect him to make a tactical error of that magnitude again.
