Wrestling Thread Oct 24-30 | 10/29 Maryse Released by WWE

- As noted earlier today, WWE changed plans with The Rock and John Cena at Survivor Series as they originally had a traditional Survivor Series match planned with the two on the same team. That was changed to The Rock and John Cena vs. The Miz and R-Truth in part because officials felt that putting Rock and Cena in a traditional 5-on-5 match would take too much attention off them going into their WrestleMania 28 match.

I just gotta say that Im That One is on a dope heel run right now.

WRONG. They want Cena to be a 100% face so bad that they're hoping The Rock's cheers rub off on him. Not gonna happen.

- In addition to The Rock and John Cena vs. The Miz and R-Truth, CM Punk vs. WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio – Kevin Nash vs. Triple H in some sort of gimmick match is planned for WWE’s Survivor Series pay-per-view.

The Rock was rumored to be at this Monday's Raw, but he will not be there live (there may be a taped segment). The only live show he will be on before Survivor Series is the Nov 14 go home Raw. Mick Foley will also be on that show.

Hit the nail on the head. Its bogus not to have the traditional match. But its shaping up to be a nice card..depending on what Nash can do in the ring

It's disappointing, but I'm still a fan of his.  Still my favorite wrestler ATM.  They should of never turned him face and be buddy-buddy with Johnboy.

Did Nash even bend his legs when he Jacknifed HHH @ Vengeance? Maybe that's why HHH landed so badly

- WWE’s website is teasing that The Muppets may take over RAW commentary next week in Atlanta on Halloween if Jim Ross shows up to participate in “The Michael Cole Challenge.

And yes it's extremely disappointing to see Punk lose pretty much all of his steam, but he's still my overall favorite main-roster WWE star.

Some thoughts I have:

  • I HATED Ziggler a month ago, called him the next Jeff Jarrett. Easily one of my favorite workers next to punk and Danielson.
  • Due to Punk getting the push he's been getting (or got), I have been paying attention to FCW(and various other indies) for the past month or so.
  • Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are NEXT. They have to be.
  • Punk needs to have creative control over his promos again. If this is going to be the "reality era" then they have to "go there" without losing the audience.
  • I said it last night and I'll say it again: That Bret/Shawn DVD is AWESOME!!!

Smackdown Spoilers for Friday

Spoiler [+]
Teddy Long in the ring to start. The future of the World Title will be determined tonight. Christian interrupted and claimed he will fill the void. C.M. Punk interrupted and Long noted he arranged for Raw stars to be part of Super Smackdown tonight. After some arguing and a great bit from Punk on Christian's "*****ing," they set up a singles match for later tonight.

(1) The Miz & R-Truth beat WWE tag champs Air Boom at 5:43. Truth with the pin on Kofi following their double team finisher. Afterward, Miz and Truth cut a promo that they will take out Cena unless the one man who hates him more than they do, The Rock, does it first. Basic planting seeds of dissension before Survivor Series.

After a DVD plug for Bret vs. Shawn, they cut backstage, where D Bryan and Kidd argued over who was better. Santino decided they should decide it in the ring tonight. Kidd said that "clown" has a good idea.

(2) Wade Barrett beat Trent Barreta at 2:30. Trent kept it close for a few innings, but Barrett easily finished him off with Wasteland.

(3) Randy Orton beat US champion Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero) at 12:28 in a non-title match. No pre-match "Excuse Me" from Vickie, with focus on Ziggler. Before the match started, IC champ Cody Rhodes came out for commentary. A "We Want Ryderchant broke out early on. After a teased RKO and a teased Zig-Zag, Orton hit the RKO for the win. Rhodes simply stood up and threw down his headset before leaving. Orton and Rhodes stated each other down, indicating the feud is continuing. Very strong TV match with good heat.

Backstage, Striker brought in an unmasked fake Sin Cara. He was dressed like a member of Mexican America. Hunico cut a promo about being disrespected by Sin Cara.

(4) Daniel Bryan beat Tyson Kid via submission at 2:44. The finish was Bryan with the Sharpshooter into LeBell Lock for the tap out.

Cole stood up at the announce table and re-did the Michael Cole Challenge complete with JR photoshopped pics. He announced Ross has accepted the challenge for Raw, with rules to be revealed on Monday.

Big Show, in a suit, out next to address the World Title situation. Show put over the fight Henry brought to him at Vengeance and noted Long has assured him of a title re-match in the near future. Cue up Henry for the interruption. Henry said he handled his business at the PPV, so he's done with Show. Henry talked more trash, teased entering the ring, but backed out when he sold a back injury. Stare down to conclude the bit.

(5) CM Punk beat Christian. Del Rio pushes Punk off the top rope as Punk tries to go for the elbow. Christian sets up for the spear, but before he can charge Sheamus runs out and distracts him. Punk hits the GTS for the victory.

Smackdown Dark Match

Spoiler [+]
Chimel announced one of tonight's main events: a 41-man battle royal with a Raw vs. Smackdown theme. Wrestlers came out in a relaxed setting with Mac doing crotch chops and Orton doing Sheamus's pose.

Bonus Match: Sheamus won a 41-man battle royal at 10:00. During the early fracas, Orton had some blood on the forehead, which he pointed out to a ref ringside. Sheamus cleared out a ton of folks. Final Four were Miz, Truth, Orton, and Sheamus. Orton dumped Truth, then Miz dumped Orton. After a battle, Sheamus eliminated Miz via Brogue Kick for the apparent win, but Christian re-entered from the outside. Sheamus then eliminated him with a Brogue Kick for the win.

After the match, Christian declared he deserves one more match.

come on JNSQ, this is booking 101

zero buildup?  what about the whole revolt thing?

I'm not feuding with you, I'm feuding with God for making you. Put me in a match with him, not you.
I refuse to believe in any booker that books himself in a title match, GotRussoArquetteHelmsleyInMySocks.
This is booking 102, go back to class.

That landing..yikes. Wouldn't be surprised if this is why Triple H is taking close to 6 weeks off.

Pretty much agree with all of that.Ziggler is NICE, especially after watching his stuff during Ryder's vids. Am I the only person who think Jarrett
is underrated as a wrestler though? I never hear him get much love for anything.

looks fine to me... except for the landing of course.
But Nash looks in better shape than he previously had in months past.
