He was champion for 434 days in the John Cena era.

The WWE paid for the rights to Cult of Personality for him.

He had several VERY high profile matches (Taker, Rock, Brock, HHH)

The level of freedom he was given with his promo work is unmatched.

So yeah...he was spoiled. The fact that he played second fiddle to Hunter and Cena during his title reign is a separate issue altogether.
