SMH if he can't come up with a reasonable explanation for all this.

If its true..

I don't donate one dime to any cause because I can't trust these scumbags. If I'm not helping them with my own two hands... no deal.

i know it might make me seem like a scumbag, but this is why I rarely ever donate. why should I randomly give my own hard-earned money and not see how it gets processed? they 'say' it goes towards blah blah blah, but if i don't see the process, then it's a nay for me.....

Buy a homeless person lunch/dinner downtown of your own damn city. Forget these big time causes.

didnt something fishy also happen w him when he was running for president...getting shot in the hand? something weird....

Always been a phony.  He used to demand $100,000 from his "charity" to perform at fundraisers.  People who blindly give money to "charities" should do their homework, but people are lazy and don't really care about what happens after they have donated.  Funny how all the contractors his charity paid were run or owned by family members.

And this is why we went with Doctors Without Borders for our Haiti fundraiser, though it was more "fashionable" to support Yele at the time. Their track record was spotty at best and there were already documents on Smoking Gun etc. indicating that Wyclef was billing his own charity for benefit concert appearances.

You can't throw all nonprofits into the same category. Resources exist to help prospective donors get a better sense of how cost effective a given organization truly is and how their budgets are spent.

You wouldn't walk into a dealership and buy a car sight unseen, without doing any research. Why would you donate to an organization you haven't checked out?

There's plenty of corruption in the world, and I can understand where the cynicism comes from when it comes to donations - but when you take an individual example of malfeasance and use that to convince yourself that ALL donations are a waste, you're really just looking for an excuse: 1) not to do the research and 2) not to give.

We can find a lot MORE examples of people who've been taken advantage of by someone they've been romantically involved with. Success rates for marriages - let alone dating relationships - are decidedly low. You could use this exact same logic to say, "eh, I don't trust relationships. I'd rather just pay for escorts. That way I know EXACTLY what's expected and there's no chance of getting hurt." Most people seem to think the potential reward is worth the risk. The potential reward, when it comes to charity, is literally saving lives.

Agreed.

This is one of the main reasons I don't like donating, because most of the money that's donated these organizations/people keep for themselves.

No wonder dude wanted to become their president, all the money for help they'd be getting.
