Im ripped right now

.

real talk tho.

lol, please. #1, this could just be a propaganda 'study'. #2, the article even states that more studies need to be done and nothing is even remotelyclsoe to being called an exact correlation.

Yeah...well Driving increases the chances of getting into deadly a car accident...but I still do it... soooo

I dont smoke weed though, But I make a good point

....came home from work early for a session of Silver Haze.

they need to do more studies on weed tho.
ohwell.gif
Marijuana Cuts Lung Cancer Tumor Growth In Half, Study Shows
ScienceDaily (Apr. 17, 2007) - The activeingredient in marijuana cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread, say researchers atHarvard University who tested the chemical in both lab and mouse studies. They say this is the first set of experiments to show that the compound,Delta-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), inhibits EGF-induced growth and migration in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expressing non-small cell lung cancercell lines. Lung cancers that over-express EGFR are usually highly aggressive and resistant to chemotherapy.
THC that targets cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 is similar in function to endocannabinoids, which are cannabinoids that are naturally produced in thebody and activate these receptors. The researchers suggest that THC or other designer agents that activate these receptors might be used in a targeted fashionto treat lung cancer.

"The beauty of this study is that we are showing that a substance of abuse, if used prudently, may offer a new road to therapy against lungcancer," said Anju Preet, Ph.D., a researcher in the Division of Experimental Medicine.

Acting through cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2, endocannabinoids (as well as THC) are thought to play a role in variety of biological functions, includingpain and anxiety control, and inflammation. Although a medical derivative of THC, known as Marinol, has been approved for use as an appetite stimulant forcancer patients, and a small number of U.S. states allow use of medical marijuana to treat the same side effect, few studies have shown that THC might haveanti-tumor activity, Preet says. The only clinical trial testing THC as a treatment against cancer growth was a recently completed British pilot study in humanglioblastoma.

In the present study, the researchers first demonstrated that two different lung cancer cell lines as well as patient lung tumor samples express CB1 andCB2, and that non-toxic doses of THC inhibited growth and spread in the cell lines. "When the cells are pretreated with THC, they have less EGFRstimulated invasion as measured by various in-vitro assays," Preet said.

Then, for three weeks, researchers injected standard doses of THC into mice that had been implanted with human lung cancer cells, and found that tumors werereduced in size and weight by about 50 percent in treated animals compared to a control group. There was also about a 60 percent reduction in cancer lesions onthe lungs in these mice as well as a significant reduction in protein markers associated with cancer progression, Preet says.

Although the researchers do not know why THC inhibits tumor growth, they say the substance could be activating molecules that arrest the cell cycle. Theyspeculate that THC may also interfere with angiogenesis and vascularization, which promotes cancer growth.

Preet says much work is needed to clarify the pathway by which THC functions, and cautions that some animal studies have shown that THC can stimulate somecancers. "THC offers some promise, but we have a long way to go before we know what its potential is," she said.

How the hell would masturbating cause cancer?
its actually true if your in the age group of 18-40 since your testes are still producing at a good rate the androgens come and leaves harmfulresidue in and it increases your chance of testicular cancer...however you need a periodical androgen release to keep your testes healthy...its really weirdthanks to mandatory blueshield articles for informing me
