Any report?

just a little review based on playing in my del sol's twice for a total of about 6 hours. i usually play the 1 or 2 guard, and i run, jump, cut and slash a lot; pretty much play very actively on both ends.

first off, the shoes come off as a little stiff but not nearly as stiff as when i first put on the 5's. there's noticeably less cushioning around the collar compared to the 5's but i wasn't missing it much. the fit is fine; i got these in an 8.5 just like the 5's, 4's, hyperfuse, hyperdunk 2010, and the first hyperdunk. compared to the 5's and 4's, the 6's are a teensy bit longer in length but it was fine.

the upper of the 6's is very flexible and feels pretty natural when i move around with the shoe on. the PU scales definitely kept my feet protected during my games getting stepped on or bumping into other player's shoes. my feet didn't feel overly hot in them after my games and at the end of the day. all i wanted during my time playing was the shoe to mold to my foot lol. i didn't check the sockliner yet but i'm sure my feet made some sort of an impression on them.

my heel felt secure in them, even more secure laterally than in the 5's thanks to the heel counter wrapping much further towards the midfoot and the sockliner being raised in the back. the cushioning was less apparent in the 6's than in the 5's and 4's maybe because of the thicker sockliner but my feet didn't hurt at the end of the day. i'm not sure how thick the zoom air bags are in the 6's and how large they are in terms of how much space they take up in the midsole. maybe it's just me but there's a lot less coverage and info about the 6's than what we got for the 5's last year. actually, much of the things said about the 6's (besides the new stuff like the snakeskin and the sockliner) are the same things they said for the 5's.

traction was pretty awesome for me. i played on not-so-clean floors and the traction definitely didn't disappoint me. i feel the traction on the 6's is definitely a step up from the 5's. the base of the 6's feels more stable and wider than the 5's, and it keeps my feet low to the ground which i absolutely prefer. i'm loving the thickness of the outsole compared to the 5's and how large the outrigger is placed as well as its positioning compared to the 5's.

that's all i have for now until i play in them more. so far, i like the 6's a lot and i really have to play in them more before i make a decision on whether or not i feel they're better than the 5's. the 6's definitely make a lot of improvements so i wouldn't be surprised if these bump the 5's to my #2 shoe, but the 5's would still be a very very close #2.

just curious since i havent work my kb6 yet.. how are the soles holding up after using them in games, since i noticed my 5's usually get worn at the heel after a couple of runs in a wooden court. tia

the soles are holding up nicely, and i go hard on my shoes stopping and going with some toe drag. there are some signs of wear and tear but not any more than other shoes i've played in.

the zk5 imo was a flop for those who were looking forward to a revamp and improvement to the zk4
the zk5 seem to be the first shoe to debut a skinwire type material
the shoe incorporated zoom air in the forefoot and heel unit as most of the kobe shoes
but the feel to them as similar to the hyperdunk 2010 has an odd plastic feel to it
and for when you cut and such it felt as though the toe box was not wide enough and the pinkie toe would often rub
without a doubt kobe will always put out a shoe that has more positives than negatives
ie the traction was decent, with a new pattern, it was wrapped for the most part in flywire, the heel piece did feel like you were more secure, and as said the zoom air is a favorite
but with the negatives the shape of the shoe felt narrow( and i have a normal to slightly wide foot), the toe box was cramped, the foot didnt feel padded enough inside the shoe and it almost felt as though you were not locked down so to speak and eventhough they fit true to size (i have 12s in them) there doesnt seem to be enough padding around your forefoot!

the zk6 on the other hand was better constructed imo
i like the fact that nike has scrapped leather from this shoe and instead replaced it with the "snakeskin" also underneath it the shoe is covered from end of heel counter to toe area with flywire but closely woven which would aid in better support with better flexibility
with these the foot doesnt feel constricted and i feel like when making the cuts it doesnt seem to rub such as zk5
the zk6 also has the zoom air
they do fit about a half size big for me as my zk1-zk5s are all 12s but zk6s are 11.5 but this is because of the flexible material that doesnt constrict you
another new traction which i do not feel fully grounded but still have not yet experienced slippage
this shoe feels as though it should have been the zk5
i do not like the look all together but it is growing on me
performance wise it is a better shoe as to you can feel yourself secured yet with better padding and flexibility

the reason i say i dont recommend either is because of the fact that the new lebron 8 and 8 v/2 has such a better cushioning feel to it than the zk6
this year lebron did win imo
but people have said it is too high and too bulky (eventhough its one of his lightest to date)
this i do not agree with
the air max gives much more than the lbj7s and when compared to a kobe anyone (lebron lover or not) can tell you that the lebron feels better
and the flywire may not be wrapped around like the kobe but the carbon fiber strengthened flywire is a nice touch in the secure feeling
but this thread is about whether or not the zk6 performs better than the zk5
imo yes it does
hope this sheds some light

I think it depends what size you are and what you prefer as well. The Lebrons sit higher and give you less court feel, although you get MUCH more cushioning. But the Kobes sit lower and give you the better court feel, instead of the more cushioning. So basically, the forwards will generally like the Lebrons more, and guards will generally like the Kobe more.

^ very good elaboration there. i wish i could ball in something like the lebron 8's but the tooling just makes me feel too high off the ground. plus, i don't think i'm heavy enough to fully utilize air max cushioning in games at least.
the kobes aren't going to be for everyone but the way you feel about the kobes and lebrons is the opposite of how i feel with them lol.

well my friend that is where nike is doing something RIGHT
appealing to all types of players and customers
and the dynamics of what lebron and kobe demand create such a diverse market for their products
make no mistake the designers are on top of reaching out to every player type position demographic etc
pimp.gif

ps
like i said imo the lebron 8 is better
and i sit at 200 lbs 5'11 so that is also where i feel i benefit more from the brons
to each their own
