After the first Terminator Salvation trailer appeared online and everyone got the chance to see The Harvester, the biggest robot in the 'Terminator' franchise, Transformers director Michael Bay took a thinly veiled swipe at the film, accusing it of effectively copying the Transformers idea. "We've seen certain movies coming out even try to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads. Please, come on," he said.
With the gauntlet essentially tossed in his face, Salvation director McG quickly issued a retort, saying that Bay doesn't own the rights to big robots.
Allegedly the arguments kept escalating until finally the two men put their adult caps back on, spoke to each other, and worked everything out. Hugs and kisses all around, or something like that. Both decided that they would leave the verdict to the public-theatergoers vote with their wallets, after all. It's the ultimate democracy.
