i think nba fans might be a different subset compared to these dudes with a mic in their faces. i think most nba fans are smart, but are kinda expected to be irrational cause that's what fans do whereas these *******s on tv and beat sportswriters always gotta take digs at the nba and its product while still making a living off an entity they seem to dislike

Where dem mfs who were laughing at u when u were the first one to notice his off-looking gait?
I'm sayin

Here's the thing that most sports fans and cable news viewers don't understand: these people (Nick Wright, Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharpe, Stephen A Smith) aren't journalists, they're commentators. Some of them were journalists. Many of them have written books and and were beat writers but now they're just giving their opinions. It's no different than an op-ed in a newspaper.

Same goes for Rachel maddow and Tucker Carlson on the cable news side of things. They're not journalists and they don't claim to be journalists. Journalists are bound to journalistic integrity and at least the appearance of impartiality.
As far as the sports commentators, I can’t even tell if those are their opinions or the networks. Like imagine if SAS, Max Kellerman and Perk or Skip, Shannon and Nick Wright agreed a majority of time. Someone has to do the dirty work and push the unsavory opinions to keep ratings up

People get so heated at the sports media talking heads but yeah, it's all for entertainment/ratings.

Eh, lots of guys have theirs things on here. Sixers fans have all the Tweets/graphics about Thybulle’s defense at their fingertips. Same with MVP MVP and Russ triple-doubles.
Rockets fans used always post Jim’s big milestones/stats. Etc.
It’s all about people trying to push agendas in this thread. Hard to have basketball discussion.. NFL thread is a bit better.

I get that, but as a few people like antidope antidope , don ramon don ramon and wavycrocket wavycrocket have argued, the way they talk about the NBA, including dudes on networks who are NBA partners, they don’t promote the game and it’s current stars well at all. In the long run, it may ultimately hurt NBA ratings.

I definitely don't think it's good for the league at all, and with the NBA it seems like the narrative/drama stuff gets stirred up more than any other league and there is little focus on the actual game

Do you think it has to do with the NBA being the most player-focused league as well as all the player movement?

The NFL doesn't do this. Let them tell it every single NFL player is nice and there's barely anything wrong with their 3 hour long sport that has 11 total minutes of actually playing in it.
It feels like no really cares or talks about awards/Pro Bowls/All-Pro teams in football
