Russ just got a big personality that's not a leader. Russ ain't really a good leader. He plays too reckless and does a lot of **** outta frustration.

It ain't that hard to see whos a good leader or not. Somebody that has a track record of leading winning teams. Other players want to join them. Can adjust their games to fit with other good/great players, plays smart. Some of it your personality how you communicate with your teammates.
Steph Curry fits this to a tee. Duncan too, throw Ginobili in there too. For the more obviously vocal side, Kobe and KG. Lowkey Pierce although his antics could get annoying. DWade although I can’t stand his dirty play is the classic example. Draymond.

Carmelo is an example of the opposite.

Joel for a young guy, Simmons is not.

KD was the “alpha” on the 2016 team that won gold. Lead the 2012 team in scoring and was the best player on the floor.

but I’m sleep
Doesn't count.
For a team loaded with talent, yes it is the ideal form of leadership. Throw KG on that list too.

All of the best players on this current team arent necessarily the vocal type.

It'll be interesting to see who they turn to. This current team would get beat by the 2008 2012 Spain teams. Probably easily too.

How do you figure it is ideal?

I dont think you want a coach for grown men/professionals to be an alpha. That sounds like a disaster.
True leadership is about knowing when to pick your battles and how to manipulate. Levels about trying to be the alpha at all times. Racist Phil was the ultimate manipulator.

I think Steph is a good leader. I think him and Dray are a good Leadership duo. Good cop, bad cop type of ****. Sometimes you need somebody that's gonna get in dudes faces, other times you need a calming personality. Dray be too much a lot of times though and when you putting up 7 points a game ain't nobody really tryna hear that.

A vocal leader when you have a super talented roster? Yes thats crucial, otherwise its just “oh just give KD the ball he knows what to do”.
We are NOT talking about VOCAL leaders.

We are talking about AGGRESSIVELY vocal leaders.

Why is that ideal?

You need the balancer like when Kobe and Shaq talk about Derek Fisher, Brian Shaw. Championship teams are a damn powder keg man

For example?
Other groups hijacking the movement to prop up their own messages and also having their own agendas. I remember one day when I was driving through the city, a group of them blocked traffic to protest. It was a group lead by some white women and this white guy. They were the types with crazy piercings, random tattoos, and colorful hair. It was a mixed group, but barely any black people there.

They had one Black Lives Matter sign and then a whole bunch of other signs pushing a completely separate message. They shouted black lives matter twice in the 15 minutes they blocked off traffic. But shouted other ****. Then towards the end, they had a sign with Goerge Floyd with drawn on long hair and lipstick. Clearly, they had their own agenda and message.

I did.

Do now explain to me how someone being AGGRESSIVELY vocal would have changed anything.

What im saying is they needed someone to step up, and not just taking shots. They dont have a clear cut leader, they just out there playing with talent thinking thats enough to get them through.

You guys said this current team would easily beat anyone internationally. Yet when **** hit the fan in an exhibition team against a team that won’t even medal, we saw a team confused af with no one stepping up and regrouping the guys. They blindly just fed the ball to KD and got out the way. Then that final possession was a cluster ****.

But it was the 20 threes. Right. They should’ve never been in that situation from the beginning.

So not having an Alpha is the main reason they didn't execute/defend in the final minutes of the game Vs Nigeria?

I just want to make sure that is what is being said here.

Damb, easily though...

They didnt have a clear cut leader. Like I said, they just playing off talent. “We’ll just give the ball to KD”.

That isn't the agreed upon definition of Alpha that your camp presented/agreed upon.

But still, pretend Alpha = Vocal.

How does that play into not executing/defending in the final moments?

Im dolo bro, I gave my own definition of what an “alpha” is.
