09 Boxing Thread:: 12/12 Diaz.vs.Malignaggi HBO/Bradley.vs.Peterson Showtime

Every time yall start talking bout boxing yall got to pull Zab judah out yall *!! lol . He is done .

I like Manny in this one the speed will be the difference , I know your gonna say "well he fought zab " but after the 3-4rd Zab was throwing 1 punchat a time . Manny bouncing in and out will Cotto trouble.
Cotto can win if he keeps his jab hard and doubles up to throw off Mannys rhythm , and he has to move his head , Often and early body work will be key for him.
Cotto didnt look great against Clottey and he has a new trainer so we will see how this works out on sat .

I seen Matt's avy, had Bad Boyz on repeat for about 20 minutes now

IMO Pacman's speed is not overwhelming speed. JMM aint no faster than Cotto and he handled it and found his target pretty easily.

and yea Zab may not have put his punches together but Zabs overall speed is greater than Pacman. Its visible in the Clottey Fight. Zab made CLottey miss alot.Pac dont move like that. His speed is offensive. Ive never seen him bob/duck/shoulder roll effectively

Pacmans best defense is his offense, but theres no question at some point in this fight with Cotto he gonna have to defend himself and make Cotto Miss. I dontthink he can do it. Cottos jab gonna be snappin his head back all nite. I seriously dont think this is a hard fight for Cotto. If Im wrong I'l l have noproblem honing up to it.

Manny was a GREAT 126-130 lb fighter and without a doubt he is the best 135 lb fighter, but he's up at welter and he bout to get in therewith the top 2 or 3 welters walkin the earth. I dont like his odds

Pacquiao has no defense at all he takes a punch, and then raises his hands in the air. (i find that annoying)

He won't be doing that when he takes a clean punch from Cotto.

Nah, I'm not gonna use the "JMM won both fights!" defense as yet
laugh.gif

Resumes alone at 135 I can't put him ahead of JMM there until they fight at that weight. JMM KOed Casamayor and Juan Diaz, Pac KOed David Diaz then ran upto 140
laugh.gif

I'm not going to put him ahead of JMM at lightweight until they fight there.

BTW, no avy for the fight?

Cotto was on that scale for about 2 seconds, they werent playing around. Freddie Roach looked pissed and was getting into it with Cotto's trainer.

Cotto trainer looked like he was gonna put hands on Roach

and Yea MAC is crazy focused. got on, got the weight, bounce.

I really dont see him losin this fight, Im to the point right now where I would be shocked if he lost

call me crazy but werent we calling cotto "shot" 6 months back? questioning if he can mentally get back to the top

I've been rocking Manny since he was that skinny crack fiend looking dude with his hair looking sun burnt from the General Santos sun and when he was justas popular as Gerry Penalosa ... but the bandwagon got too big and all those politicians and obese looking filipino-americans who don't know crap aboutboxing pushed me off the wagon
smh.gif

Lets say when the bell rings, my filipino blood will most likely take over and i'll end up cheering for Manny, but if he loses.... i won't mind
laugh.gif

Back to boxing. Manny needs to keep the fight at the center of the ring and Cotto needs to pin him on the ropes. Manny needs 3-4-5 punch combinations to hurtCotto. But Cotto just needs 1 flush shot to hurt Manny. Manny's chin was above average at 126-130 lbs. While he was able to carry his power and speed to140-147, I don't think he was able to carry his chin. Oscar and Diaz was too slow to land anything clean, and Hatton was just shook... 130 lb JMM hurtManny in the body with the left hook.... Imagine a fully hydrated 160 lb Cotto will do.

Cotto by KO via liver shot in the 6th

I Think the pac -man is going to win unanimous decision, i just think that he is going to be toooo fast for cotto, but if cotto wins this is going to be theone of his greatest victories so far.

Any word if Pacquiao had trouble with his sparring partners, particularly Shawn Porter? I know they kind of made it appear that way on 24/7 but Idon't know if they were just trying to do it as a way to create drama.

There was a rumor that Porter actually knocked Manny out. There's an interview on Shawn Porter after arriving from Manila and he was telling theinterviewer his record "I'm 10-0 with 8 KO's.. make that 9 KO's"

I see...

I'm sure Pacquiao will be landing on Cotto but I don't think he's going down easy and he'll be landing his own in return since Pacquiao'sdefense is nothing special either and Cotto is is good as finding and creating openings...maybe not quite as well as JMM, but still good nonetheless. I'mjust not sure if he's going to be able to handle the return fire of Cotto even if Pacquiao is landing more. It's an interesting fight but I'mpicking Cotto for the upset.

Yeah, Gunna's on point saying Pac's best defense is his offense. His chin and defense haven't been tested at this weight division yet. Pac has abad habit of keeping that right hand low after throwing a punch. Perfect for Cotto to counter with his own left hook

Las vegas, Nevada - Mexico's Antonio Margarito, who last night made his arrival at the mgm grand hotel, hopes to resume his career in the welterweight division in early 2010 when his one-year suspension is up indicating Sergio Diaz, one of his handlers, who are considering Felix Trinidad Evangelista Cotto Garcia and a group of potential candidates to become Margarito's new trainer following the departure of Javier Capetillo.

"Tijuana is in training and hoping for something after his suspension expires. We fought hard with Top Rank about that but we'll have to wait time our time is met. And we're already talking to a new coach so when he gets back his license. We do not rule out Evangelista ,Trinidad and also Freddie Roach. But we would explore the possibility that it is a Puerto Rican, "he said.

Margarito was suspended following a finding of an alteration in his bandages for his fight with Shane Mosley he lost by technical knockout subsequently being suspended both"The Tijuana Tornado 'as also Capetillo.

"And we listened to Bob Arum of a fight with Cotto in June at Yankee Stadium. If that is accepted by Cotto it is a very big fight. Everything depends on the company but i would give them a fight before that. These are the plans and would be in the same welterweight division, ".

word is pacquiao floored shawn porter twice and porter has not been able to knock manny out but has been able to give manny a challenge.
