Well if he does that, it just shows the type of person he is. Both of their situations have been trying to extort and bullying Lakers managementinto overpaying them just because they were parts of a championship squad. Trev was a ROLE player, a good one, but still a role player, the market was set forhim to make the MLE, but he said no, the Lakers should offer him 3 mil more than what everyone else was offering him, and the same thing now with LO who liketupac said would be the HIGHEST paid 6th man in the league (and he's not even an All-Star); Portland is the only team that can offer him what the Lakershad/or still have on the table. This is just like James Posey stealing money from the Hornets last year just cause he played good in the Finals. I for onceapplaud Laker management for standing firm and not making the same mistake 3 or 4 times in a row.

3 years and 10 million and 4 years and 36 million are great offers for him

does this idiot think he can get more with anybody else (including portland)?

It seems like he does not want to be here anymore or lacks a few braincells. I go with the latter

I can't believe people really think we are not a championship teamanymore!! So we lost Odom, who plays 50% of the time and has been a underachiever his whole career.. Yes he was a big reason why we won the championship but atthe same time we did improve at SF with Artest.. Artest can also play the
PF and now its time for Bynum to step it up.. If Bynum can play like the 2 weeks before he got injured again we are fine.. I'm actually excited
to see Bynum play at the end of games instead of always getting yanked 3 minutes into the 4th quarter.. Yes I know he gets into foul troube
( so did Odom) but thats something he's gonna need to learn this year, plus his foul trouble really was a issue in the post season only because
he knee wasn't right and he was using his arms instead of moving his feet... I just wish we would have offered that money to Ariza.. At least
our bench would have still been solid... Either make a trade for another big or we sign someone like Tim Thomas or Ben Wallace ( I know
they are not as good as Odom but not bad players to get 15 minutes a nite).. If Walton can play like he did in the post season, Sasha finds
his shot and Shannon Brown develops, and maybe sign or trade for another player our bench is not that bad.. Trust me Mitch has plan
C for this move and I called Odom not wanting to come back in the first place.. I didn't care what he was saying cuase I'm sure he was mad that LAalways dangled him in trade offers and made him come off the bench in a contract year.. He wants to start wherever he goes and I'll bet you he'll endup sigining for less money then what we offered him.. The Lakers will be fine without him and we should be good for another ring if some things fall in place..I'm a Laker fan first and if someone wants to leave then PEACE..

You can book this: assuming Lamar is gone, we will never hear from either Trevor or him again.

Sucks, because we are a better team with them, but what can you do? If they want you to pay them more than they're worth... I mean... just because you werea fool and overpaid for players like Walton and Sasha doesn't mean that has to be the precedent for what you do. Recognizing an erroneous pattern andstopping it is called 'progress'. They should have been paid a certain amount, and they were paid more than that. Lamar and Trevor are worth a certainamount; don't go over that.

And then Trevor went off and got the same yearly amount from somewhere else. I can see Lamar doing the same thing. Success wise, the best fit for him isDallas. Money wise, he needs to go to Miami, who will have a boatload of money available from not landing LeBron next summer.

although I agree with you in principle tupac, when Lamar was healthy in the playoffs, he played at an all-star level. it was when he was hurt vs the rocketsthat the series got dragged out and the Lakers struggled against the Nuggets until Lamar got over his back injury.

Hmmm...this fool must not know math.

Isn't 3yrs/30mil equal to 10 mil a year which he soooooooooo wants?
And isn't 4yrs/36 mil > 5yrs/34mil???

I know I'm kind of slow, but someone tell me what I'm missing here.

I can already see him saying that it was not about the money, that he wanted to go to a team that wanted him, and that he is a champion

I think a focused Odom is vital to the Lakers success...but I find it HILARIOUS that a good majority of ya'll seem to be anointing him a must have piece tothe puzzle when there were PLENTY of times in the past I don't know how many years that ya'll were calling for his head.

to tupac: we already know what lamar can bring and his inconsistent play>>>>>>walton and vujacic combined
what did they sell their 2 picks for?

I don't understand the logic...

We all know Lamar is better then Walton and Sasha.

But you can't get rid of them. So why even say Lamar > Walton and Sasha? How is saying that going to make Lamar stay?

Just answer this. Is Lamar REALLY worth 5 years 100 million dollars? Because that's what you paying overall if you give him that deal.

Look at our pay roll next year...
Los Angeles salaries
The Lakers are already committed to paying about $84 million in player salaries for next season
LAKERS2009-10 salary
Kobe Bryant$23 million
Pau Gasol$16.5 million
Andrew Bynum$12.5 million
Ron Artest$5.6 million
Adam Morrison$5.2 million
Derek Fisher$5 million
Sasha Vujacic$5 million
Luke Walton$4.8 million
Shannon Brown$2 million
Jordan Farmar$1.9 million
DJ Mbenga$959,000
Josh Powell$959,000

Add 10 mil for Lamar. That's 94 mil in salary alone. Luxury tax cap is 69.92. So say 70 mil. Thats 24 MORE mil they have to pay in tax. Thatmeans Dr. Buss would have to shell out 118 mil next season.

Now trust me I don't have a clue as to what the laker make a season but I would believe its at least double or triple that but you still have other thingsthat need to paid. I just don't think its wise to give LO that money knowing you HAVE to pay Pau and Kobe.

If true....

Forget Lamar. I am now done with this character. He must have something worked out with another team or he just doesn't want to be here.

Damn we actually folded and would have given him the 10 mil. On top of that we gave him a 4th year....

IMO you Laker fans should have saw this coming from a mile away. After the Finals he didn't want to say that he wanted to be a Laker instead saying talk tomy agent, talk to my agent. If he leaves, which I think he will, it would be one of the biggest career decisions he could make. At least you all know thatmoney > championshios to him. What difference does $1 million make at the end of the day? I could see Dallas and Miami going after him with Miami reallygiving serious consideration in acquiring his services.

Could this have all been avoided? Yes, but hindsight is 20/20. Who would have known that Sasha, Luke and Andrew would continue to play beneath their potentialafter those big contracts they received. Maybe some of those monies could have been put toward Lamar. Anyways, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

i really believe LO's agent is messing things up for him

If they really offered 3 yrs/30 mill or 4 yrs/36 mill, I believe LO would have taken either of those

it seems like his agent is playing hard ball

I'll take anyone over LO at this point, he's a ***!! At least all these other players will bring 110% every game not LO's 50%

*i got my flame suit on*

i am so happy LO didn't resign, the rest of the league now has a chance. YES!!!!

How many freakin times you have to say Artest can play PF.. No, he can't! .....Have you thought about him guarding KG,Timmy,Dirk,Nene...etc?

It's a BIG loss for us (if Odom decided to leave..).. I just hope Mitch got something up in his sleeves.. we can't just stop with Artest to compensatefor the loss of both Odom and Ariza..

HE NEVER WANTED TO COME BACK!! ITS NOT HIS AGENT, TRUST ME IF HE WANTED TO STAY IN LA HE WOULD HAVE.. HE WANTED TO START SOMEWHERE..AND ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEYEITHER CAUSE A 9MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT IN LA IS MORE THEN A 10 OR EVEN 11 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT IN ANY OTHER CITY BECAUSE OF ENDORSEMENTS..

Artest can play the PF spot against certain matchups and he has in the past.. No you wouldn't play him against KG that would be ridiculous but there arePLENTY of undersized PF he can match up with..

Problem is LO's 50% fit very well with what we did. And when he did play 100% we couldn't be beat.

You seem to think we are still a championship team with out him. I think we can get to the WCF maybe the Finals. We were bigger then the magic this year. Saywe play a Boston next year they would be better equipped and bigger. IT just wouldn't be a good match up. Same with the Cavs. They added shaq and gotbigger.

i truly honestly trust mitch
we can not rest with just ron
wee need someone else
i know david lee is still out there
why not throw him some money around 8 mil?
considering NO ONE wants him since he is still out there.
i know he wants 10 mil but no one has offered him that soo why not take 8 mil for a championship team?

idk man im just saying !*@# now
ill wait for tupac to quote me and ask me if im serious
but i want to belive in this laker team and right now i dont
