2009 UAAP-NCAA Thread

UP is sporting their black alternate jersey due to some color problem with their existing, since they have green/maroon and white in their jersey, they'vedecided to put some yellow beside the green part, that looks like FEU, and on their dark one, they put the maroon beside the white, and it looked like UE(red/white), well I guess parang kaartehan lang din ng admin, since they could have changed the colors before starting the production, so I guess UP will bewearing the black alternate jersey through out the season.

thank u in advance fellow NT'ers.
bader is wearing hyperdunk ids. Ababou and Mirza were also wearing the PH hyperize.

Great game for DLSU. The best so far IMO. Hopefully it could prop up their confidence for sunday's showdown. Bringas breakout game. Barua hopefully gettinghis confidence back. IMO, Hyram being the captain of the team was a very good choice by the coaching staff. He's been doing very well in the games where hegets his mins. Controlling the tempo of the game and hitting his shots. IMO Rookie Year LA Revilla>Joel Tolentino. LA last year was really good and washoping for a better year this year, too bad may illness sya, relegated to eraser boy of Franz during timeouts but hopefully he'll be back next year. AlsoKish Co being a revelation this year.

Adamson has been UAAP's heartbreak kids this year. It's been always been like that the past few years. They could've been 4-1 right now instead oftheir losing record with the only loss coming from ADMU. Other losses have been by less than 5 points and could have gone their way.

THE FIRST BATCH OF TICKETS FOR THE first Ateneo-La Salle showdown in the UAAP this season sold out in two hours at the Araneta Coliseum yesterday.

The Blue Eagles and the Green Archers renew their storied rivalry at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Big Dome. The Far Eastern University Tamaraws and the Universityof the East Warriors will tangle earlier at 12 noon.

Tickets for each game are sold separately.

Basketball tournament director Mark Molina said the league will no longer issue standing-room-only (SRO) tickets for the blockbuster August 9 match.

"The tickets sold will be exactly for the 15,000 capacity of Araneta," said Molina.

The four schools will start selling their alloted choice tickets to their alumni and supporters starting today up to Saturday, with the remaininggeneral-admission tickets up for sale before the game this Sunday.

Officials of TicketNet, the ticketing network of the Araneta Coliseum, told the Inquirer that it sold out 570 tickets yesterday by 11:15 a.m. after openingthe ticket booths at 9 a.m.

"Instead of four schools dividing 15,000 (tickets), we now have two schools dividing 15,000," said Molina of the league's decision to issueseparate tickets on the same playdate.

"We believe if there are more tickets given to both Ateneo and La Salle, it might not eliminate, but it will definitely, decrease scalping."

But just like last season, bootleg tickets for the duel were already peddled online. Patron tickets originally priced at P300 are now being auctioned off ata starting price of P19,000.

Meanwhile, the UAAP Press Corps picked La Salle rookie Arvie Bringas as the Accel-FilOil Player of the Week for his breakout game against University ofSanto Tomas last Sunday.

Bringas, who played a key role in San Sebastian's NCAA juniors title run last year, fueled the Green Archers' amazing comeback from a 17-pointdeficit before eking out a 101-92 double overtime triumph over the Tigers.

Bringas, who averaged only 3.8 points in his first five outings, finished with 21 to become the first rookie in three seasons to score over 20 points in agame.

Tigers Ababou, Camus suit up vs Tamaraws
(The Philippine Star) Updated August 06, 2009 12:00 AM

MANILA, Philippines - The UAAP technical committee yesterday decided to allow UST's Dylan Ababou and Chris Camus to play as the Tigers take on the FarEastern U Tams in the UAAP seniors basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum today.

"In yesterday's (Tuesday's) technical committee meeting, the board decided to let them (Ababou and Camus) play," a source told The STAR.

But the same source said the board might reconvene in an emergency meeting to resolve the issue before the 4 p.m. match.

"A decision has to be made before the UST-FEU game tomorrow (today) because until they convene an emergency meeting, which is unlikely, then they canplay," the source said.

UST's Fr. Ermito de Sagon, OP, chairs the technical committee composed of Ateneo's Ricky Palou, La Salle's Chuck Buenaventura, National U's BamPaguia and Adamson's Fr. Max Rendon.

"Let's just wait for the board decision," said league commissioner Joe Lipa.

Ababou and Camus were caught on video replays allegedly throwing a punch in separate incidents against La Salle players in their Sunday's game. But thereferees slapped only technical fouls as the Archers went on to fashion out a 101-92 double overtime.

The Tams rolled to their fourth win in row after trouncing the Maroons, 77-65, last Saturday.

Is this the First time UP will be wearing a white STATE U jersey.

@manilaboyxix No, I think im liking La Salle's jersey, well that me, and for me the worst will probably go to UE or NU. SBC tops the Best Jersey in theNCAA in my list, the Worst is EAC

Update: Score Tied at 18 UP-UE. End of 1st

anyone know if there is any site streaming the ateneo-la salle game on sunday? a fellow atenean here in cali with no connects here

white/gold Hyperize looks nice, though DLSU's white/gold Hyperdunks last year looks so much better.
