What am I missing here? Can POB dunk it on wide open finishes and hit a very occasional hook shot? Yes he can. POB can't get NBA minutes because he is charmin soft, doesn't rebound, and can't play defense.

Do other people see Perkins doing Kareem type of moves because the guy is the most offensively frustrating player on the team that I watch every game. And that's saying a lot for a team that has Tony Allen on it.

No one is saying Perk is the 2nd coming of Kareem or has his footwork, but you are SERIOUSLY underestimating what he does on a nightly basis on the offensive end for the Celtics.  I don't care if 99.9% of his hoops are dunks/putbacks/layups....if you're shooting 60%+ from the floor, you're in elite company...company of which Patrick O'Bryant will NEVER be a part of.

The Portland Trail Blazers may be on the verge of making a few deals that would land them forward Tyrus Thomashttp://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4132/news/l.yimg.com/a/i/us/sp/fn/default/full/p_note_none.gif);">http://l.yimg.com/a/i/us/...t/full/p_note_none.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; visibility: visible; vertical-align: middle; font-size: 0px; height: 13px; background-position: 0% 0.2em; ">(notes) from the Chicago Bulls and guardSasha Vujacichttp://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3844/news/l.yimg.com/a/i/us/sp/fn/default/full/p_note_none.gif);">http://l.yimg.com/a/i/us/...t/full/p_note_none.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; visibility: visible; vertical-align: middle; font-size: 0px; height: 13px; background-position: 0% 0.2em; ">(notes) from the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

Plenty of teams are trying to get Thomas right about now. The Denver Nuggetsand Houston Rockets have reportedly made offers. The Nuggets apparently have recently tried to make trades for DeAndre Jordanhttp://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4497/news/l.yimg.com/a/i/us/sp/fn/default/full/p_note_none.gif);">http://l.yimg.com/a/i/us/...t/full/p_note_none.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; visibility: visible; vertical-align: middle; font-size: 0px; height: 13px; background-position: 0% 0.2em; ">(notes),Antonio McDyesshttp://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3004/news/l.yimg.com/a/i/us/sp/fn/default/full/p_note_none.gif);">http://l.yimg.com/a/i/us/...t/full/p_note_none.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; visibility: visible; vertical-align: middle; font-size: 0px; height: 13px; background-position: 0% 0.2em; ">(notes), and Ben Wallacehttp://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3149/news/l.yimg.com/a/i/us/sp/fn/default/full/p_note_none.gif);">http://l.yimg.com/a/i/us/...t/full/p_note_none.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; visibility: visible; vertical-align: middle; font-size: 0px; height: 13px; background-position: 0% 0.2em; ">(notes) recently but were rebuffed each time. And Houston was apparently trying to get Caron Butlerhttp://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3608/news/l.yimg.com/a/i/us/sp/fn/default/full/p_note_none.gif);">http://l.yimg.com/a/i/us/...t/full/p_note_none.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; visibility: visible; vertical-align: middle; font-size: 0px; height: 13px; background-position: 0% 0.2em; ">(notes) from theWashington Wizards. Once the Dallas Mavericks snagged Butler this weekend, the Rockets apparently turned their energy toward trying to get Thomas or the Wizards' Antawn Jamisonhttp://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3247/news/l.yimg.com/a/i/us/sp/fn/default/full/p_note_none.gif);">http://l.yimg.com/a/i/us/...t/full/p_note_none.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: transparent; visibility: visible; vertical-align: middle; font-size: 0px; height: 13px; background-position: 0% 0.2em; ">(notes).

The Trail Blazers apparently told teams this weekend that it might be able to get Vujacic and wondered if anybody else wanted him in a secondary trade. There is some speculation that Portland will end up with Thomas and Vujacic on its roster, according to Wojnarowski.

Knicks in serious talks for McGrady

The New York Knicks are getting closer to reaching the Houston Rockets’ demands for Tracy McGrady(notes) and his $23 million expiring contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Knicks and Rockets have designed the framework of a deal that would unload New York’s Jared Jeffries(notes), Jordan Hill(notes) and either Al Harrington(notes) or Larry Hughes(notes) for McGrady, Joey Dorsey(notes) and Brian Cook(notes).

As talks stood on Monday, the price of dumping the burdensome contract of Jeffries – who is owed $6.9 million next season – comes with the Knicks and Rockets exchanging 2011 first-round picks and the Knicks’ 2012 first-round choice going to Houston. New York also might include a 2010 second-round pick.

The Utah Jazz own the Knicks’ first-round pick in 2010.

The completion of the deal isn’t imminent, but sources involved in the discussions are increasingly confident that after months of back and forth, which intensified over All-Star weekend, an agreement is within reach. TNT’s David Aldridge first reported that talks between the teams had picked up.

One of the hang-ups in the deal, sources said, could be the Knicks’ inclusion of either Harrington or Hughes. There are slight variations of the trade that would change depending on which of the two veteran Knicks’ expiring contracts are included. With Harrington over Hughes in the deal, the Rockets wouldn’t need to include Cook.

For the Knicks, the trade would accomplish two important things: First, it would get Jeffries’ salary cleared out, something general manager Donnie Walsh has tried to do since taking the job. This would give the Knicks even more flexibility to be a major player in this summer’s free-agent market. Also, the Knicks want to take a good look at McGrady and let him play as much of a role as he can handle the rest of the season. They may consider re-signing him for next season, based on his performance.

Rockets GM Daryl Morey would get Hill, the untested eighth pick in the 2009 draft, and first-round picks that could prove valuable. This will get the Rockets a significant measure of value for McGrady, who they exiled in December. McGrady, sources said, is excited about the possibility of joining the Knicks.

Morey cleaning house with those draft picks though.

Yea I don't see how Biedrins is the answer for Howard and Shaq. That proposal is horse #*%, not happening.
I'm ok with that NYK deal if we get Al

I just hate giving up on a lotto prospect within his first year.

But the name of the game is shedding salaries, so Hill is the one you would want to give up, rather than Gallinari or Hill.

I shouldn't expect getting anything better than that considering the Knicks assets.

All I wanted for this year was to get enough for two max free agent contracts which we get with this deal. We get rid of Jefferies contract, and with a buyout of Curry saving 2 million we are in excellent position to offer two max contracts next year. Plus we keep our two best young pieces, Gallo and Wilson. Jordan Hill will never be more than a role player in this league good riddance.

I was just about to post, that's one of the bright spots. If NYK strikes out FAwise and continue to be a lotto team. And Morey drafts pretty well, so, eh.

Here here for Jordan Hill panning out

All I know is, Morey better not be playing around and make then unprotected. We're doing the Knicks a favor by taking Jeffries off their hands.

Yes, TMac could be done, and the Rockets can't ask for much back, but unloading Jeffries let's NYK become legit players this offseason. Ain't nobody else want Jeffries.

Since Utah owns NYKs 2010, the Knicks can't trade back to back first rounders. I think its a rule, so this swapping come 2011 is a loophole I guess.

*hopes NYK is still a lotto team for the next couple of years

the draft picks dont bother me all that much, if we still suck by then...well, things have not gone as planned.

Hate giving up hill this early. hate it. But, if you think TMac has something left (personally, i dont) and you're sure you can make a splash this summer, ok.

but it's a big risk. And I'm not too sure what to think of it.

gallo > collision and a first round pick. what the $!!% are we going to do with a mid/late 20s pick?

its not often they can pan out better then a lottery pick.

and i would pass on that tmac deal. im tired of giving up our first rounders, even if its an exchange/

Unloading Jeffries = at the very least, is $ to be used to resigning David Lee long term. Along with being able to max somebody out.

So in that sense, it is worth it, more or less.

Not bad, after thinking about it some more.
they aren't lotto picks if the knicks make the playoffs, which they will next year considering tmac might resign for cheap and they can offer a max deal + a close to max deal (adding on 2 more players)

im sure they are thinking 2 Max FA's first instead of Lee, which is what this will open up.

but yeah, shedding his contract will leave money for Lee and a mid level type PG if you cant land 2 guys.

the knicks dont care about going into luxary tax, which you can to resign your own players. so no, it doesnt really help us whatsoever unless we're signing somebody else.

im content with just signing one max FA.

Yeah that's why I say potentially.

One lotto pick in Hill, and possibly two more. Hopefully two more.

Draft picks, first rounders especially, are assets though that can be moved along with other pieces in other/future deals.

It really is a lot to get back for TMac, who's an unknown at this point, who the majority of NT thinks is done, looking at it.

I guess I can stomach Jeffries for one year.

I didn't think the Rockets were going to be legit players in free agency this summer anyways.

They have like $10-12M to spend this summer (before taking on Jeffries), but they got to also keep in mind re-signing Scola-Lowry and extending Brooks-Landry.

Stop thinking Jefferies is garbage (although you'll want to smack him for missing his layups) he'll do fine in Houston.

He'll do wonders with that defensive lineup in the last minutes of 4quarters, but his offensive game is so terrible.

I dont mind swapping picks that much, i just dont want to lose Hill in this.
