The media just likes to sensationalize their topics so its easier for them to make mass generalizations.
Phelps is the greatest pro swimmer of all time, no doubt.
But greatest olympian? What does that even MEAN? You can only win one gold in Table Tennis. You can win several in swimming. Its not even a direct comparison.
But on another note, I think title defenses are far more impressive.
If Phelps ran track, it would be like him winning the 100, 200, 400, every relay and the hurdles. You all do realize that athletes train their entire lives for a single swimming event. They get in the pool 3 times max at the olympics. And every single one of them loses to Phelps.
Michael Phelps is the most dominant athlete of all time. Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all time.
Phelps is beast. No one can deny he is one of the best olympians ever.
Big ups to My Guatemalans who just one their first Silver medal in 20km.
Happy GB is out of soccer tourny. 2 Asian and 2Latins teams left in MSoccer. Hope its South Korea and Brazil (eventhough they were gifted semi win) in final

Isn't South Korea is playing Brazil in the semis? I thought it was Mex/Japan and SK/Brazil

No it wouldn't. Absolutely ridiculous example.

you all see this after the Phelps race the other night? Took Harden forever to realize who won.
track and field has the following for men:I am sick of hearing how many more medals Phelps has than anyone considering there are a million swimming events compared to other sports
TL;DR: Ya'll can't swim so you might as well inaccurately sensationalize his accomplishments.Love him or hate him, Phelps is a beast. Heck, probably more than half of NTers here can't even swim, let alone do all the swimming strokes consistently fast. People fail to realize how difficult it is to have to compete in so many swimming events across so many days. There's a reason majority of swimmers (even track athletes) concentrate on a few specialty events instead of training for many.
Nah, I think winning every track event is tons more difficult. I think would it would be a lot more taxing on the joints, and well no explanation needed after that. You're right, because it is even more difficult than that.
