I'm with CP. I don't see any point in getting outraged about the officiating in the NBA. Sure, the refs make a lot of mistakes, but they generally end up evening out for the teams involved. Plus, at the end of the day, the vast majority of the time, the better team ends up winning, whether its individual games, playoff series or the championship. So, the way I see it, the results would more than likely be the same even if the officiating was perfect. Yeah, I know there are some examples people can bring up to say that's not the case (Lakers v. Sac in '02 or Heat v. Mavs in '06), but I'm still not persuaded.

Bob Delaney on Tim Donahy

so Bob being a cop means he's more inclined to tell the truth?

No, Bob being a fed and working undercover inside the mob, and helping take them down, is more of an honorable task, don't you think?

You think a man like that, is going to join the NBA, to help them fix games, for fun? :lol :lol

Donahy is a crook, and last I checked, crooks are not the most honest of men. They will do/say anything to get money, or get out of trouble, etc.

The problem with the nba is i dont think fans see it as making mistakes anymore refs have gotten flagrant with it

most times in the nfl you an chalk it up to just a bad call

but when you see a game like last night and know that Bron is gonna have to big boot somebody now to get called in gm6 thats a big deal

No, it shows hes good at lying

and who said for fun

the line between cop and crook is often much thinner than a lot of people are willing to acknowledge but this has nothing to do with hoop i dont wanna derail

I have no idea how anyone WHO REGULARLY WATCHES SPORTS can defend NBA officiating.

It's 'mind bottling' to me.
Because NFL and MLB officiating is the exact same.

Collegiate football and basketball, same thing as well.

Tennis umps

Boxing refs....
Erroneous.

You don't regularly watch sports.

Only logical conclusion I can draw.

The narrative about how MLB & NFL are just as accurate/inaccurate is right up there w/ Greek mythology.

MLB is almost NEVER wrong. Bang-bang plays at 1st, strikes/balls, I'm always supremely impressed with how many different angles I'm seeing on my tv reviewing the play, and it still shows that the original call... was right. No, not ALL the time, obviously. But frequently enough to know there's NO WAY MLB is on par w/ NBA's incompetence on the ref issue.

NFL? I'd put it between MLB & NBA, but still nowhere near as deft as Crawford & Co.

And I'm not saying there's a conspiracy.

Just saying them dudes... *points to NBA officials*... are clueless af.

But if you thought the actual incident was funny and entertaining, there's one important man who doesn't.

Asked via text message if he was bothered by Stephenson blowing in James' ear, Pacers president Larry Bird replied, "Yes I am."

:lol

I doubt the mob only had one ref, I've been watching the NBA for years and these guys determine the outcome a lot. NFL is a close second. Every now and then there are surprises but it's pretty predictable.

I mean, I know it's not true. That's why I threw it out there.

But I am truly perplexed.

Why? Well, because of everything else I said in the reply that you just quoted, everything after my sarcastic beginning.

larry bird said he was disrespected when a white man was tryna guard him

"As far as playing, I didn't care who guarded me - red, yellow, black. I just didn't want a white guy guarding me, because it's disrespect to my game"
