2013-2014 NBA Thread - IND @ WAS and OKC @ LAC on ESPN

They have to be willing to change the games selected for tv after the fact. Obviously tonight these are the only game going on, no chance, but quite a few great matchups involving OKC, POR, IND, have been snubbed for just terrible games. Obviously the Lakers are the prime example, although surprisingly they are more fun to watch without Kobe. Nick Young and the Lakers versus LeBron and the Heat just doesn't have that same must see value

How many tv games for the Blazers this year? Suns?
NBA learned their lesson from past seasons when they put the Blazers on TNT a whole lot only for injuries to cripple that team along with sub par play because of it. That I can see is a balancing act. You don't know what team is gonna get it together and be lucky with no injuries. Plus the market will always weigh heavily on who gets nationally televised games.
I hope all 5 games are a 20pt blowout so that the NBA catches all kinds of **** and they reconsider the way they decide their Xmas schedule

How else would they do it..

They are picked at the beginning of the season..

Only snub is the Pacers. But they lose out to big markets.

Also BK/CHI, OKC/NY would have been thought to be good games 3 months ago.. Injuries happen and Knicks happen.
Keep the xmas schedule blank until mid Nov. By then you can get a better feel for the better teams in the league as well as factoring past rivalries and big markets.

Have to move the entire league schedule at once and mix and match teams so the old XMas matchup still play each other. Also to make sure they get the same amount of road and home games as every one else.
No all they would have to do is leave Dec. 25th blank and then at the end of Novemver, pick 5 games from the rest of the season and remove them from the day they are supposed to be played on and put them on Xmas instead. no moving anything else around

I'd take Reggie Jackson, Jeremy Lamb, Andre Roberson, Perry Jones, Steven Adams to make the playoffs in the East
What are the chances those guys stick around past their rookie deals?
Reggie probably gone. IMO, somebody will offer him 8 mil per, similar to George Hill with the Spurs. Only saving grace for the Thunder is Kendrick Perkins contract comes off the books the same year he has to be extended. Everyone else way too early to call because you have to see who we still have under contract when their reups come. I don't think Dre is ever going to be a big money guy though, though he'll stick in the NBA. Even if he develops a 40% corner 3 ball and now is a 3 and d and rebounding guy, those dudes make around MLE if they're lucky.

Just make the schedule, but leave December 23-26 open. Tell all the teams be ready, then decide the schedule like two weeks before Christmas day.

Yeah, it's the same reasoning when they postpone a game and reschedule for another date.

The Spurs @ Heat will no longer be 2/14/14 but 12/25/13. Simple.
