Eh, I'm warming up to the idea of getting Melo. Dude is only 30 years old and doesn't have a questionable injury history. I'm fine with him being here until age 33 or 34, hell Kobe had one of his best years ever at age 34. His game is one that should age gracefully since he doesn't rely so much on his athleticism. Sign Pau back and hey let's go for it. I'd also get to sell my parking spot :hat

Getting Melo would be great.

A line up of...

Nash/pg?
Kobe
Melo
Randle
Pau

Would be fun to watch and quite competitive. This team could build up momentum for next year and lure other free agents as well. Also in the playoffs with players like Kobe and Melo, anything can happen, these guys are competitive and would love to showcase themselves on the biggest stage.

Also people are going to say we are going to give up 49058490584 points and our defense is going to horrible. Hopefully whatever coach we bring in will teach more of a team concept to defense to help hide some of the inefficiencies of these players, and also there are always players we can pick up through out the year to help that defense.

I don't understand people not wanting to get Melo, are people really trying to hold out money for like a Durant or Lebron in two years? There are no guarantees those players will join the Lakers. Durant seems like a loyal person who would stick with his team through and through, as for Lebron you don't know how he'll look in two years.

In my opinion you go for it all now, and if you get Melo, Lebron, both or just one, you consider it a success and move on. If you miss on both, you fill up your roster with wise pick ups and try even more to develop our young talent.

All I know is i'm absolutely tired of hearing about Kobe's contract, and Tanking. I just want this thread to talk about something else, hopefully it will be Melo signing...

Is there anyway the lakers could get melo and still get love? Any way possible?

Highly unlikely. The cap would have to raise by about 4-5 million next year for us to be able to fit what would be fit his $16-17 mil salary under our cap room.

Kobe-$25
Melo- $23
Randle- $2.6
Love- $17

= $65 million

I'd assume they may move Randle for Love in a sign and trade if it becomes an option though. Redundant to have both of them here. Also this assumes Pau is only here for 1 year and not 2 guaranteed, see Essential's wink wink deal where we would go over the cap to resign him because we have his bird rights if he comes in at a reduced rate this year.

Why would Love take less than fatboy? He's younger, better and more marketable than Melo. And Melo's ugly and talentless wife is obsessed with being in Hollywood, so the Lakers have the leverage.

Farmar you're dead to me

I always liked his game always , I'm praying we get IT2 so we can have some excitement at point guard because if we don't :x

I doubt we get Bledsoe but I'd take him in a heartbeat too, just get somebody good Mitch please.

He's not taking less, that's where the 1st year of his max deal would start at.

FWIW: A UCLA senior associate athletic director tweets that Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Love were playing pickup at UCLA today.

Imo dude is worth more than cheeks

I actually agree with you here.
I think clippers got a steal here.

Farmar made all kinds of strides over seas. Dude was a whole diff player when he was healthy.

He'll be solid off the bench for them.
There were times Big Ears was the best player on the team last year. That probably tells you more about the team than anything, but yeah. :lol

Nice signing by the Clippers regardless.

Kevin Love wasn't there.

If Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant were playing ball at UCLA today, one thing's for sure, source tells Yahoo: Kevin Love wasn't with them.

Bazemore gone, 2 years-$6M. :lol

I figured he wouldn't get half of that on a two year contract.
