2014 NBA Draft Thread

Yeah, I'm sorry but as a guy who's team could potentially draft Wiggins I hope he'll end up being a great player but I in no shape or form see the dude being a franchise cornerstone leading his team to the playoffs, future top 10 player. He's got the athleticism to be one but I don't think he has anywhere near the mindset or skillset to be one.

The wiggins slander :lol :{

Im not stirring anything up here. Im just shaking my head at the wiggins slander. Its like all the people who are bashing him have forgotten what he did in hs and that he wouldve been the forsure 1st pick in last years draft. They saw him in an awful system at kansas and all of a sudden the kid cant play offense? If hes a franchise player, youre team will be in the lottery year after year? :{

I know you're not stirring anything up, I'm just saying you drop in with the "look at this slander" when folks are actually trying to have a composed discussion on him. There was nothing malicious or fictitious said really that would leave me to believe it's just slander going on here

I don't see him as a franchise player period. If you try to make him that then you're going to be very disappointed. Put him in a Kahwi/Jimmy Butler/Ariza role and that's where he'll thrive.

If the Sixers draft him I hope I'm wrong.

Here is the reality with drafting.

We know nothing.

Wiggins could be Kawhi, he could be Paul Geroge, he could be Tracy. I believe with work he can get to that ceiling, he has scoring instincts his handle is just under developed, and he needs to stay lower all very correctable.

but I don't really know.

So much of this depends on who he gets drafted by and the player development people that are around.

but I do know that Embiid is 7'1 and will block shots, and blow up screen and rolls, I know that from the jump so hence the prescription of Embiid at 1.

Alot of people in here have their reservations on him offensively, and thats fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

But if hes your number 1 option youll be in the lottery year after year and gerald green comparisons and mental ****** are nothing but slander. lol

@chadfordinsider: TJ Warren is never going to be a drills guy. But when they went live 3-on-3? Holy hell.

@chadfordinsider: Here's @22wiggins working on that step back jumper. http://t.co/d3RqOc69eb

@chadfordinsider: Wiggins' workout was great. Working on keeping low, small tweaks to his 3-shot, terrific midrange game + craziest athlete in draft

@chadfordinsider: Will have a full report on Wiggins, Embiid, Parker workouts on Tuesday + video of Wiggins workout

Your nuts bruh.

Well the Gerald Green comments came from an NBA scout's mouth and people explained why they thought it was a valid comparison

The mental ****** comment was pretty slanderous but that really about it on the 'slander'

Told you earlier, they'll be a Wiggins' workout video released soon and people will be back square one on who to draft first

Of course none of us know, nobody knows. Scouts, nobody.

Wiggins could be Tracy McGrady? That's where some people are drawing the line, and I think it's fair to do that. As much flack as McGrady gets, to say Wiggins might be Tracy is saying a lot. I don't think it's unfair to say Wiggins won't be that type of player

I dont think I can ever pass up on a 7+ foot 20 year old that can defend, has post moves, great hands/footwork, and the ability to pass.

Again, we are all awaiting the prognosis on that back. If it's cleared then I don't think you'll find many folks who have anyone else but Emiid as #1. All depends on that back.

I can't think of anybody with serious back issues (especially big men) that came back afterwards and had a great career. Even if Embiid is alright right now it's just a scary thought that it could be a reoccurring issue.

I could see that at that time though. Shard was a big time scorer, and they had similar skillsets.

Of course KDs skillset and potential was way higher than Rashard Lewis, but at that time, I could see how somebody would say that.

People forget how nice Rashard Lewis used to be. Never worth the contract..but an all star guy.

Back in 07...how was this a bad comparison? Pretty similar if they were saying that his floor was Rashard Lewis.

Perhaps...but it speaks to the fact that some people believe players CAN'T add to their game once they get to the league. People like to act like these dudes are close to finished products.

People act like if Andrew Wiggins doesn't have an elite handle now...then he'll never be able to have one. If he's not an elite shooter now...then he'll never be one.

I like to bring KD up because he's the perfect current example of proving people wrong. Nobody saw KD being a dude with elite handles...he was "too skinny" to get to the cup and finish consistently...list goes on and on.

There's a reason dudes put work in. To get better.

Nobody said his "floor" was Rashard Lewis. In fact quite a few people said he'll have a Rashard Lewis like career.

OK and there are countless examples of how guys were supposed to be this or that and never panned out. It goes both ways with the projections. It's not unfair to predict that Wiggins won't be a franchise player.

I don't know where the hell these people were that said that about KD but as far as I can remember both Durant and Oden were basically can't miss prospects coming out. Durant was George Gervin and Oden was Bill Russell.
