2014 NBA Draft Thread

While you may hate Melo, he was a franchise changer considering that Denver hadn't been to the playoffs in the previous 8 seasons prior to drafting him where they improved their record by 26 wins and have been to the playoffs every year after him until this season. That's not to say that Bari will have that type of impact off the cusp but I think he will be fine.

It was the 97 draft for Duncan that permanently blew him. Boston had the 2nd worst record and a 36% chance of winning the draft lottery only to get the 3rd pick and draft Chauncey Billups. The only other player besides those two drafted to make an all star or nba team was Tracey McGrady. He's never gotten over that and rightfully so

You're right, if Parker is Melo he's a nice player to have.  My point was more about Wiggins and Embiid having elite two-way potential, which Parker doesn't.  And a guy who is elite on both ends of the floor can REALLY change a franchise.

I don't think it's rightfully so.  Boston has tried to tank sooo many times, they don't deserve ****.

that wouldn't happen. i'm sure players are ready to hit up cancun once the season is over. doubt they would want to play more games to potentially draft a guy to take their spot.

i do agree with big j. randomness in theory is fair, but it just so happens, luck is swinging towards cleveland's corner a little too often despite their odds. it's kind of like beginners luck, but not really. but kind of, really.

David Griffin was just on the radio and asked who he would take if the draft was today.

he said the guy from Kansas.

:lol :{

also said that he has had 4 offers today already for #1

The lottery process was done in public in the '80s and people still cried conspiracy, with the Ewing pick the obvious example.

People will never be satisfied. The process is still done in front of team reps and media members. U can fit a conspiracy storyline around any team that won anyway.

from the Cavs thread:

2.8% chance in 2011, 15.6% chance in 2013, and 1.7% chance this year equals 0.007% chance of this all happening or less than 1 in 10,000. Insane.
Lebron left Cleveland changed his number to 6, Kyrie wears number 2 x 3 number one picks= 6, Dan Gilbert is 52 5+2=7 -1 pick=6. Illuminati
Hahaha

Gilbert sucked someone off.
Dude.....

Eh it wasn't the same though, they just had the envelopes not this convoluted ping pong system with these combinations. I don't know it, would at least ease some of the people's minds, in my opinion.

Again, the process is done in front of team reps and members of the media. You think that if Stern, and now Silver, rigged it that ALL of those people would have kept their mouths shut for the last several years? It's complete nonsense.

6ers offer 3 and 10 for 1? does Cleveland do it?

good question. idk man.

Honestly can you go wrong with the Big 3 in this draft?

Plus take Dougie or someone at 10 if you take Embid at 3.

I wouldn't take it unless they know for a fact that their guy is there at #3.

But I'd rather keep the #1 pick. Put more pressure on that player be chosen #1 to succeed right away, which is what we need..

The Cavs have Embid 1 on their board. HA HA HA HA HA. What a waste that would be. I feel sorry for Cavs fans.

Wiggins
Parker
Embid

Me personally I like all, but am very worried about Embid's back.

Wiggins or Parker is so :hat to me

Imagine the Bucks taking Embid at #2.

You then get Parker or Wiggins at #3 and then have #10

we were projected #9 dude.. we shouldn't even be in this situation.

If his back his healthy, to me, its a no-brainer Cavs should grab Embiid. Even personality wise, I think he's the best fit for the team. Has a mean streak that I think that team needs.
