2014 NBA Draft Thread

But even with that being said, Kyrie hasnt developed into a border-line superstar?

Because the last time I checked, he wasnt a unanimous decision to go #1 pick because of his injuries.
A hurt Kyrie was better than anything in that draft that year & Kyrie is a 2x All-Star, that's the closet that Cleveland will get to having a superstar

75% of the players on the current Cavs roster haven't even been in the league for more than 3 years, how could you even talk about "develop into something"??

:lol c'mon man. Do you watch basketball or do you just skim through it.

this is my first time chatting with you. are you always like this? :lol are you a troll? what evidence is there that the cavs are a top flight organization in any aspect, specifically developing raw, unpolished players with very limited experience. The Lakers have that on their resume, what player can you point to that the Cavs have done that with?

By the time Tiago decided to come over his stock had fallen a bit. Back when he started picking up NBA buzz in the early 00's...he was being talked about as a possible top 10 pick

Ohhhh...so people weren't saying to draft Derrick Williams as #1? Or even Kemba Walker?

Kyrie wasn't a for a sure #1. Quit spewing nonsense bro.

Are we really counting overseas ball? Heck Adam Morrison is a star overseas!
You sound pretty clueless.

Tiago played in one the top leagues in all of Europe...and was the MVP multiple times.

Adam Morrison is not a star overseas...he avg'd 15 a game a few years ago in a lesser league.

"Overseas" is not just one big league.

Few said Derrick Williams, I'll give you that, but Kemba Walker.... I never heard one person even consider that

Tristan Thompson was a reach at 4 almost averages a double double. Realistically, what was ever expected of him?

Who on their roster would have exactly benefitted from being elsewhere besides Cleveland? Don't just name 10th and 11th men on the roster either.

is the development of tristan thompson enough to make you feel confident that embiid will go there and flourish to his highest flourishment? that's really what I'm getting at.

My point is overseas success doesn't translate into NBA success, regardless of what league. Yi Jianlian was the top player in the CBA, arguably one of the best overseas leagues, and fizzed out of the NBA in a matter of years

Who ever said the Cavs were a top-flight organization? You speak as if it's the norm in the NBA to develop raw, unpolished players with limited experience. The Cavs have done exactly the same thing 29 other franchise have done with their drafted players. If you firmly believe that the Cavs are a franchise where players can't develop, than you're being very naive.

Do you know how many teams in the NBA have drafted BUMS? BUMS, who people projected to be great? What happened to Derrick WIlliams? Ennis Kanter? Greg Odom? Etc.?

And specifically, what players have the Lakers drafted that have blossomed into a legit star via development?

For one, embiid has far more potential than Thompson ever had. Secondly, a persons work ethic has everything to do with their development. I don't know either personally.

But even still, TT would be who he is if he lived in Hakeem's basement. He was a reach at 4

Andrew Bynum was a complete and utter project and the Lakers molded him into a top 2 center.

the way you keep shifting focus to every other team except the cavs is all I need to know

Bleacher Report ranked it in their Top 10 and DimeMag ranked it in their Top 5, for overseas leagues

you and i could write for bleacher and dimemag if we really wanted to
ive heard guys like fran fraschilla who actually follows intl ball talk in length about euro league ball and where it stacks

NBA players get cut from the CBA for averaging less than 25 ppg

I think Andre Emmett has multiple 70 point games over there.

Andrew Bynum :| - bruh you speak as if Andrew Bynum will be walking down the HOF lane. Andrew Bynum's last 3 years has put him in the same category as Vlade Divac.

And the way you bring up the Lakers in this for no apparent reason is all I need to know.

Wait wait wait... Cleveland drafted Bennett last year and then TRADED FOR SPENCER HAWES and began playing him extended minutes instead of Bennett just as Bennett started playing well. That is one example of how they are a bad development organization.

Kyrie failing to improve and in fact regressing is another example.

Andrew Bynum.

And there's the recent string of reclaimation projects like Trevor Ariza, Shannon Brown, Jordan Hill, Earl Clark and Kendall Marshall that they have developed into rotation players after looking like they were one foot out of the damn league.

They also have found relative "steals" in the second round such as Marc Gasol (didn't develop him I know), Ronny Turiaf, Luke Walton, Robert Sacre and Ryan Kelly recently.
