2014 NBA Draft Thread

Pau's a free agent.

The only players under contract for the Lakers are Kobe, Nash, Sacre, Marshall and Young (he'll opt out soon though).

Edit:

Breaking down the NBA draft with Draft Express

Now that the combined and the lottery are behind us, it's time to breakdown the NBA draft with Jonathan Givony of Draft Express. Givony gives us his thoughts on top prospects like Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Joel Embiid, while giving us background on the decisions league execs have to make on Dante Exum, Marcus Smart, Julius Randle and Noah Vonleh. What should the Cavs do with the top pick? Is there a draft-day trade for Kevin Love? All that and more on this episode of the Drive & Kick podcast with Paul Flannery.

With Embiid healthy the answer at one is obvious.

All the reports are that he's healthy, impressing at works out, if he was healthy all year we wouldn't even be having this convo.

Cavs are gonna pass on Embiid. Looking like Wiggins is their guy. Nothing wrong with that unless Wiggins turns into a huge bust, which I highly doubt.

i believe this is true as well.

I have also heard that the Kings are looking to possibly move up in the draft to take Embiid.  Maybe the 3rd pick? not sure but man it would be nice

That would be cool.

I wonder what it costs to make that type of move in this day and age.  Never really happens in the NBA.

I'm assuming everything but Cousins.... so S+T Thomas (if other teams wants him)+Mclemore+#8?

Yeah, Deron Williams his on his way downward...3 or so great years left.

Great for an established team needing a PG, but definitely not for a lottery team.

No idea. Like RCK said, in that case i think every player on the team is up for grabs outside of Cousins.  Except with Thomas and Rudy's contract situations i don't know how tradeable they are. And those are the Kings 2 most desired players behind Cousins

Tony Allen, Kosta Koufos and #22 for #8.

I would expect TA's value to be through the roof after the playoffs and Koufos only cost $3M. He would be nice to play next to Cousins, if they wanted that. The Kings may be a team looking for a guy that can change the culture defensively and will be a big locker room presence.

f not, then Zach Randolph and #22 for #8. I don't think ZBo and Cousins would fit, though. :lol

All in all, those are dream scenarios. It would more than likely take Conley and #22 to snag the #8 pick.

How do people feel about Marcus Smart? Am I the only person who feels he has a lot of Westbrook in him? Not as great of an athlete, but really passionate, turnover prone, strong, can light it up, aggressive, playmaker, attacks the rim HARD, etc. Maybe a better comparison would be Rodney Stuckey? :lol

Players like Smart, you have to be extremely careful on how you develop them. He could very well go somewhere, lose complete focus due to poor surroundings/coaching and suck. He could also get in the perfect situation (similar to Westbrook), develop his skills, while help increasing his teams win total. Become a star in the league.

i can assure you that TA's value is not through the roof after the playoffs. no team is giving up much for a poor dribbling and shooting undersized guard, who is going to turn 33. he only is valuable when the other team has an elite scorer but most of the team he's a liability on offense. love his defense and always thought if he had an offensive game, he'd easily be a top 15 player.

:p it was worth a try :lol

Looking at Westbrook's draft profile from 2008, they mentioned that he would be nice in a Barbosa type role off the bench :lol .

Deron has reached salary dump status.

Brooklyn would have to give picks away for another team to take him they ain't emm got those.

what happens if deron was forced to retire if he had an "accident"
do nets get cap relief

MCW
lavine/harris
Parker
Thad Young
Noel

Would be a fun team to watch

I'm hoping Hinkie is on the phone with Sac trying to get #8 for Thad and some other pieces...dunno how it'd work out but I realllllly like Vonleh and hope he's available there if not, then Gordon. I can almost guarantee we'll jump in the mid-late 1st round (likely 25+) with our first second rounder to add someone, that non-guaranteed contract for an early second will be gold for those teams at the end of the first.

Really excited to see what we do on draft day (short of trading MCW or Nerlens :lol). Wouldn't even put it past Hinkie to move up if he really likes someone or move down 1-2 if they don't like Parker and can get a haul of pieces to go down to say pick 5 for Utah (parker would be good there for many reasons obviously).

Jabari is the top guy I want on the Sixers. No clue what the Cavs or Bucks are gonna do at this point though.
