2014 NBA Draft Thread

Been saying this since Bari was a freshman...he's Melo, but a better person lol.

Y'all underrate his athleticism because there are other freak athletes in the draft, but he's by no means a slouch athletically.

Guy is going to be a big time scorer for a loooong time.

You can learn to be a better defender... Those offensive instincts and natural talents just can't be taught.

I'm fairly certain a lot of us pegged Parker in the Anthony vein, they certainly have similar skill sets and styles. That was apparent since day 1

There will be a Wiggins workout vid posted soon and all of us will go crazy over that one too

Melo was about 230 coming into the draft, bari is already 240, hes only going to get stronger once he gets in the league , i think hes going to be a fulltime 4 by his 3rd season, hes already more physical & a better rebounder than melo was at 19

Higher floor than wiggins? :{

Wiggins floor is kawhi, embiids floor is tyson chandler, excluding injury risk.

:lol Vastly overstating the floor for both of these guys.

Really? Worst case scenario for Embiid is DPOY? And Wiggins - worst case scenario is two way stud who's the third best player on the best team in the league?

Realistically, Wiggins has loads of potential but he has a LOT of work to do. Athleticism isn't much if you can't use it to impact the game consistently. He needs to figure out how to use it to finish inside over bigger players (badly struggled at the rim), how to use his first step to get to the rim and how to impact the game defensively.

He's going to need to learn how to score in isolation (from the wing or post) and/or run a PnR effectively. This is a must if he wants to be more than a role player.

And he needs to bulk up if he's going to deal with SFs. And his jumper is a work in progress.

Kawhi without his strength, 3pt shot, high BBIQ is not much of a player. He turned himself into a knockdown corner 3 guy and forced Pop to play him. He's a damn good overall player. We'll see how Andrew does.

Embiid is much further along IMO. He needs to bulk up and gain experience defensively. Outside of that, he has a lot of NBA ready skills right now. It's not like he's being drafted over Wiggins just cause he's a big man.

No, if he does get drafted over wiggy, it will be only because he's a 5. Everything you knocked wiggins for, he does. Wiggins was made for the NBA, not college, and definitely not Bill selfs system. He's going to make an impact defensively from day 1. He's also going to get to the rim pretty easily in the nba, considering that it's not as much zone and alot more iso. The kid is 19, he'll bulk up, as will embiid. And embiid is NBA ready in defense, and that's where the list ends. :lol

LeBron is like 260 or more and plays the 3 still. I don't see Parker playing the 4 full time just because he weighs a 240 or 250

lebron played pg as a rookie, lebron isnt a good measuring stick for any player when it comes to size & position, if he goes to the bucks hes gonna have to move to the 4 regardless because koumpo isnt going to be able to play in the paint

What does LeBron playing point guard have to do with anything? You're saying that Parker weighs 240 therefore he'll be playing the 4 in a few years. Weight has nothing to do with position

Nobody in the league brings to the table what lebron brings, so by saying hes 260 & still playing the 3, means nothing because lebron does everything, position is only to categorize players but jabari is gonna be playing more inside(4) than on the wing because hes a physical player & his defensive capabilities fits him more as a 4 especially as he grows more into his body

I actually agree about LeBron, my point is Parker has guard skills. Even though he played in the paint at Duke I don't see him doing that in the NBA, his natural fit is on the perimeter. Btw, he isn't 240, that was his last measurement in 2013. He looks much slimmer now.

His defense is still a huge question mark but he isn't going to be able to guard 4's in the post regularly either.
