bro i think you trying too hard not to understand
they got rid of their star player who wanted out and in return got players that allowed their team to still compete

and as i typed that out i don't see how the nuggets got a better deal either lol

:lol that's what I'm saying. Neither team "won" that trade. Lakers traded shaq, with the components from that trade they went to 3 finals and got 2 rings, miami got one. That's a better example of winning a trade that also benefits both teams.

The knicks s were stupid AF to go after amare to begin with .
...

neither won its a wash .... I hate the cavs but they dumb AF. All k love gotta say is i ain't going to sign anywhere but wit lj.

klove could kill everything if he wanted to . ..
. They would be loaded AF for the next few years....

Dude your only looking at the surface and not value. Both the Air Jordan X "Doernbercher" and the newly released Air Jordan XIV "Thunder" both retailed at $170. Just because they retailed at $170, doesn't make them equal in value. Same with the Knicks/Nuggets trade, the Nuggets had no leverage. The facts they made the playoffs, have a better overall winning percentage, and didn't take a step back, IMO and some other's opinions, the Nuggets won the trade.

lmao im typing that **** out I'm just like wait ..

You have to grade a trade by the results. All the arguments you guys are making for Denver you can make for the Knicks (injuries, making the playoffs before etc). The teams have been almost dead even since the trade
co-sign

All of their seasons since the trade can't be separated by more than a few games each season.

Even Steven

You're making all these excuses for Denver. They didn't have leverage because they couldn't build a contender which is why Melo wanted out in the first place (also because denver but whatever). Regardless of why they made the trade, it doesn't change The actual trade which hasn't improved the team or made them better than NY.

Nuggets fired George Karl after a 57 win season, Coach of the year, and FIRST round playoff exit.

Was it Melo?

or was it Karl? (fault lies here)

I'm taking the player every time.

Shaq turned into Odom and a piece that would help them get a piece that would help win a third trade later on.

Exactly. It wasn't just shaq for odom, butler and grant. That would have been a loss if they didn't make the most of those assets. Pau is the last remnant from that trade and he's just now leaving.

No, you can't give Mitch credit for winning that one individual trade unless he had all that planned out three years in advance :lol

He sold Shaq for three quarters on the dollar, if that. Period.

Lakers eventually won back to back chips they won that trade imo...careers are marathons not a sprint.

After that trade Shaq started team hopping like Mike James he lost all kinda stability :{

He was able to get back pieces he could work with after trading shaq so yes I give him and the fo credit for having that foresight and being able to win championships as a direct result of the shaq trade. Most of what denver got for melo is injured, no longer on the team or just otherwise worthless.

It's like if mitch is choppin bricks and some of his product gets stepped on. He won't be able to get the full value for them bricks but he got enough so he could re-up and cash out straight from the trap house

So, I was listening to NBA Radio today and a dude called in and said something about Kobe demanding a trade to the Knicks mid-season if the Lakers stink. I laughed out loud, but then Rick Fox acted like it was a real possibility. Bargs and J.R. for Kobe. I hope it happens, more for the Lakers side than the Knicks. I would love to see a team with a starting 2 and 3 combo of J.R. Smith and Swaggy P.

The Lakers competing for championships in 2008 is not a DIRECT result of the Shaq trade.

They got pieces from it to make trades down the road. They got pieces from elsewhere too.

But to say the Shaq trade, three years earlier, is the sole or major reason is giving a little too much credit. He wasn't acquiring Caron Butler and definitely Kwame Brown just to trade them later on.

Anyway, the 04 Lakers are like the 11 Nuggets... both were trying to do different things than the 04 Heat and 11 Knicks. There's nothing to "win" between the two sides.

I'm sure Mitch had the foresight to give up Caron Butler for Kwame and he of course knew that Kwame Brown would magically turn into Pau Gasol **** outta here. The Lakers were VERY lucky after that trade, hell Kobe was going to bolt in 2007 because of the lack of moves to improve the roster and the Buss' were being cheap.

Odom was the only piece the Lakers got out of that trade that did anything, Brian Grant and Caron were horrible.
