I said anybody could win a title with top 5 players Shaq and MJ and top 10 player Kobe, not to mention top 50 players Scottie and Dennis.
You turn around and say that nobody could coach those guys and its easier to take people like Duncan and Kawhi since they're docile.
But you raise a good point... MJ and Kobe never won a title without Phil as their coach... so those guys must've been *** and owe all of their victories to Phil.

Phil is GOAT coach, he's the only one who could control egomaniacs like MJ and Kobe and Shaq.
You've now completely lost me

I will say that if I understand what you're saying, shouldn't pop have more rings since he's had a sheep like Duncan for 20 years[emoji]129300[/emoji]
phil had all time great players at their respective positions

pop was stuck with a borderline top 5 center

Dudes really think lebron is on gear? I thought that was a running joke? Son is a physical specimen. If he was on roids he'd be way more brolic

I don't know about all that. I'm just saying there's a reason low t Timmy is so easy to coach and has a full head of Brazilian wavy at such an advanced age.

Hey look whos back doo be doo lol mister friendly musta called him to back him up in here

Funny how the 3 guys going hard and saying laker fans were coming to defend phil are all spurs fans

Hypocrite much?

When its all said and done one coach has won 11 titles

One coach has won 4 and a half titles

One coach won 6 titles in a tough era of basketball

One coach tamed 4 huge egos and personalities

One coach couldnt even handle stephen jackson

One coach has had more all stars on his team than the other but said coach has less titles to show for it

One coach has achieved 3 peats twice

One coach has achieved 3 back to back titles

One coach has never won a back to back title

Both coaches had dennis rodman but only one won a title with him matter a fact a back to back

Debate over

8/8 subtle trolling. Great job

Phil Jackson didn't have all stars?

Pretty sure he coached an All-NBA player every season he coached. Multiple ones for probably like 10 seasons.

Phil Jackson is great coach, I prefer Popovich if I'm starting a franchise and need a coach.

If I had franchise with the greatest player of all time or young multiple generational talents, I may pick Phil Jackson.

I'm not a fan of the ring argument with Pop and Phil. It's a flawed and narrow minded way to look at an ability to coach. There's different cards being dealt to each person. Who was able to get more out each individual under different circumstances they were dealt is the question. Phil was dealt with alot of players that were going to be great with or without Phil IMO. Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, maybe Pippen. How much that was Jordan making him better or Phil who knows.

Pop had Duncan and thats pretty much it when it comes to someone who was gonna be great regardless. There likely is no Parker as we know him without Pop. Same with Manu. Same with Kawhi. Pop scouts these players from all around the globe, coaches them up and develops them. To recognize potential and know how to develop it is some serious friggin coaching ability. I watched a Spurs bench of these handpicked international players slaughter Miami's starters. A team that was on the verge of being a dyantasy in the Finals. I never saw anything like it. They had no answer for a Patty Mills lol. Not Jordan, Pippen, Shaq, Kobe.

Of course when you have Michael Jordan and Shaq happily flying to LA to join you and Kobe you're gonna win alot lol. That doesnt mean you're a better coach. I definitely tend to think what I just said about Pop that there was a whole lot more coaching going on.

3 of Pop's titles came while Phil wasn't coaching. 99, 05, 14.

Phil beat Pop 4 outta 5 times. The one Pop win came after the Lakers reached 3 consecutive Finals.

Phil:
91 title
92 title
93 title
94 lost
95 lost
96 title
97 title
98 title
00 title
01 title
02 title
03 lost
04 lost Finals
06 lost
07 lost
08 lost Finals
09 title
10 title
11 lost

13 Finals in 19 seasons, 11 titles, 3 3-peats + 1 repeat. Swept once, his final series, coming off 3 straight Finals runs. Went to 3 straight Finals FOUR times in 19 years.

Numbers you will never see again from any other coach.

The 2nd best coach you can name, coaching multiple HOFers together for over a decade has zero repeats, ever. Only reached back to back Finals 1 time. And been swept multiple times. Not off multiple Finals runs.

Phil dealt with nut job physcopath primma Donna's, players gambling all night, retiring, rape cases, bickering, bad FO's, and huge market media frenzy's.

Pop dealt with entire teams taking paycuts and opting out for lesser contracts in a ZERO market.

It's really not even close. Pop just the more well liked narrative.

I would definitely want pop in charge of my local boy scout council tho. He achieved moderate success with those types

phil has always been so effortless in his greatness

pop had to make up that stupid be rude to reporters gimmick because without that no one would pay any attention to the spurs

Pop is a GREAT coach. Absolutely GREAT.

But Phil is in a lonely stratosphere. He is so ridiculously great, he's underrated even being called the best. He consistently got clutch plays from his role guys, let them get thru runs on their own, always adjusted game to game to exploit you, managed minutes perfectly. He just obliterates all other coaches with his ridiculous track record.
