2015 NY Knicks offseason thread, Los Almighty appreciation thread

That's a great read. Even if he doesn't pan out to be great I appreciate his personality and his approach. Hard to slander a guy like that. If he does progress he'll be one of the brightest stars in the NBA.
Idk what you're saying but if Zinger doesnt pan out, he can go **** himself

Come on man he's a nice kid lol. He's doing the right things. It just doesn't always work out. I'm just happy he's not lazy or a headcase or a diva. Humility and drive will take you far when mixed with talent.

This is NY bro. I have been Team Zinger since before day 1. But being a "nice kid" just doesnt cut it here. This aint OKC. We invested the #4 pick in the draft on him and we have no pick next year. I need results.

Of course we need results. That's all it's been about for us, no matter who we would've picked. I'm just not going to be as mad at him as I would someone who clearly doesn't want to work towards being great. We've had a lot of low character players come through our doors. It's refreshing to have someone who seems to get it at such an early stage in his career.

I love Zinger. I love everything he has been doing/saying and I said before the draft that the **** I read about him and his character made me like him more so than the workout videos. Because you need that attitude to make it in NYC.

But if he doesnt pan out, all these interviews and things that he says dont mean ****. I know that as well as anyone and I have practically ran the Zinger bandwagon.

It's pretty easy to say all the right things, it is a lot harder to go out and execute. I'm not saying that I think he wont, I think/hope that he will, he seems to really have that drive. But he has to go out and prove that he has that drive in him and make it in this city in front of this fanbase, not just speak about it.

Knicks fans need to be won over. I think he will do that but if he cant, like I said, he can go **** himself for all I care.

Give me a Sprewell type thug who says all the wrong **** but will lay it all out on the court every single night over a high character kid who says all the right **** but doesnt show it any day of the week.

And I'm not saying that Zinger will fall into the latter category, I certainly dont think/hope so. I even wrote that I wanted Zinger to get Boo'd because I think he is the kind of kid who can use those draft night Boos to drive him to greatness as opposed to letting it get the best of him. Like it would to a lot of others in his position. But I'm just saying, take all these interviews and **** with a grain of salt until he goes out there and executes.

Dont take that as me hating on Zinger, because that is far from the case. I would say the same exact thing about any other player and I am extremely happy Zinger is on this team. But just like anyone, he needs to prove his worth on the court before I fully get behind him.

Is anybody REALLY expecting anything great outta Zingo next year? I'm not...I think we're getting ahead of ourselves with "Melo as a second option" talk. LOL

None of what I said relates to next season. Just speaking in general terms.

I'm just looking for progress from Zinger next year. Cant really define that with #s. Could be 8 PPG could be 15 PPG.

I would definitely like to see him average at least a block though. Anywhere near 2 would be fire depending on his minutes.

I think a lot of his future will be determined by his value as a rim protector. Because if he could fulfill his crazy offensive skillset/potential and combine that with being a 7'3 rim protector, Idk if we have really seen anything quite like that in the NBA before.

give me some "he panned out" numbers you guys are looking for from Zinger

year 1: 8/4/1 on 48/36/79

then just steady improvement every year until he eventually becomes a 20 ppg scorer, which i think is very realistic given his unique skillset

25 ppg 10 reb 5 blocks
Or else trade him by the trade deadline for any old washed up former superstar with a long contract .

naw i think he'll average more than 10 ppg. i think he'll be starting tbh. maybe not immediately, but he will by the all star break. if hes around the 15ppg 7rpg 1.5bpg AND we make the playoffs, hes getting ROY and melo MVP :smokin

Ok. I was catching up on the threw and read Melo being a second fiddle and kinda got confused. I think we can make the playoffs next season simply because we play in the east...

Melo haters will always be Melo haters, no matter what he does..

"yeah he scored 62, but he also had no assists"

This but asterisk it we stuck wit him for the next 3 years like it or not anyway :lol

I also really tho hope WSHH pans out for us or else...

So Gallo just got a nice $17 mil a year deal. Good for the Rooster.

I'm telling yall, if he is fully recovered from injury, which he looked like he was averaging 22 PPG or whatever over the final month or 2 of the season, he will have a big season playing probably as the #1 scoring option alongside a shooter's wet dream PG in Muddy.

Where was that dude who was calling (26 year old) Gallo a bust?

If only we had ******* traded Landry

I'm hoping/thinking Afflalo will be a very underrated signing for us. Just a little over a year ago he averaged 18ppg, FG45%, FT81% etc.

The year after he was traded midseason, it's not far fetched to believe he can average 15+ for us this season.

I've been saying that as well.

He was an ASG snub that year due to the Magic's record. He said he is still highly motivated by that snub. Hopefully he can make it in as a member of the Knicks...

Not that I would reasonably expect all-star level play out of him, but it might be a possibility if we overachieve. Because if we do overachieve it will likely because Afflalo plays at a higher level than most expect.

If we can get competent PG play out of JG and/or Caldo (what this season will ultimately come down to for the Knicks IMO), I too think he will surprise a lot of people as a somewhat competent secondary scoring option for Melo in the short term. Although I definitely think he is much better served as a 3rd or 4th option on a winning team.

But he is still a solid starter in this league nonetheless, plays both sides of the ball, and has shown that he can take on a scoring load and do so efficiently when he is asked to step up. He was a great value signing IMO. Possibly the best of the summer by any team.

i don't think we could get 50 cents on the dollar for melo. if we could get a lottery pick, maybe the option to swap picks with someone and a cap filler i'd be happy. see what happens over the first 5 months of the season and maybe a surprise team with good young talent and cap space will take him on. there's enough dumb/crazy GMs out there who'd love to have him when you see the stuff that's gone down this summer. i don't think melo himself wants to go through 2 years of waiting for zingis to become a player, and to be fair to him if that's not what he wants he's earned the right to ask out.

i think melo has just been super passive aggressive with his stance towards the organization even before we traded for him. obviously a lot of this stuff is on Dolan who just caves in to these guys, and that's ultimately where the problem lies but melo isn't the guy you want being the top dog in the organization, and that's not just my opinion there's a ton of people around the league that feel that way.

isola and SAS like to stir the pot but I know for a fact that a lot of ppl have gotten pissed that melo's people suck at controlling what comes out of his camp, and you can see that when you read some of the stories that are written.

if we see melo starting out the season slowly, low FG%, team struggles, what's gonna be the first excuse? he's not healthy, major knee surgery, not 100% yet. when that **** gets written it'll be the lamest, weakest **** ever, i'm sorry. dude put of surgery to play in London and the ASG.

let's just say hypothetically the team sucks again, are all you guys gonna say he has no blame in the situation? is it Fish/Phil's fault? honest question.

Wait so you are already fully behind Zinger regardless of whether or not he ever lives up to his draft stock, based off SL and a couple of interviews. But you dont like / want to trade the best player we have had on this team since Patrick Ewing, who wants to be in NY, and wants to win (and has proven he is capable of winning when the right pieces are around him)?

Some Knicks fans man

And I think it is less people in Melo's camp controlling the situation and more trolls like Isola and SAS being ******* trolls.

Melo's silence while on vacation this summer has become a story in itself, that has evolved (through Isola's trolling) into "Melo and Phil Jackson are beefing and one of them will be gone by this time next year, if not sooner." As well as SAS "Melo feels hoodwinked" bull ****.

How exactly is that Melo's fault? Especially when it came out today that Melo texted Zinger on draft night? Dude isnt allowed to go on vacation now?

It is impossible to control a situation when there is no situation to control. Just NY media stirring the pot.

Give Zinger a couple of years to develop into an all-star. They'll pull the same type of **** with him.

^^^ i mean if you aren't behind your team's top 5 pick how can you call yourself a fan?

melo is a unique talent but in terms of guys that are pure gamers, warriors, guys that make no excuses, it's an insult to Ewing to put melo in the same category.

I never heard Ewing say put more talent around me, I don't have enough help, EVER. That guy is and was the ultimate gamer.
