I'm a little iffy on that as well but I still like the trade a lot.I just realized Jimmy is 29 years old. With his injury history and the mileage he has playing with Thibs, resigning a 30-year-old Butler to a 5-year max is a bit worrisome. Or am I just overthinking this?
Here's an interesting thought...
With Butler working best with the ball on his hands off the PnR and Simmon's incredible athleticism and lack of a jumpshot, it would be a very interesting experiment to use Simmons as a roll man (think Tyson Chandler). Have lineups with Mascala as your center to stretch the floor and watch Simmons outrun and outjump his matchups.
Landry switching to #1.
Furky deserves to be in the rotation
Some random tidbits from the Jimmy Butler Intro presser:
-He said he knows Markelle has been working hard this offseason since he's seen him a lot in LA. He said it's all mental and the talent is clearly there. He said all he wants from him and the rest of his teammates to play hard
-He isn't chasing a major contract. He wants to win. His family is set for the rest of their lives
-He has great relationships with his prior teammates. They loved him in the locker room but he's very demanding on the court. Said he gets a bad rep for being a bad teammate from reporters but no player has come out and said it
-Still loves country music and drives a minivan. Doesn't do much but play ball and play dominos/cards. Simple man
-Loves the fact that the fanbase loves players who grind and play hard. Sees a good match between the city and his playing style
-Says that the offense will be our strong suit. Liked what he saw last night against the heat and how everyone was open. Alluded that defense will need to be improved
-Number 1 goal is to win a championship here in Philly
