2018/19 Philadelphia 76ers Thread: The Process Continues

Mirotic would be the perfect small ball 5/4 we need

Or someone like Olynyk

Mirotic would be a perfect fit for sure.

Wouldn't mind another wing either.

How far along is Patton's recovery? Was he good before the injury?

Out for the season. Broken foot

Courtney Lee I wouldn’t mind but his contract

Incredible finish tonight! Jimmy sealed it on both ends. Loving his play with the team so far.

Also, Fultz continues to attack the rim with confidence and push the ball up the court. Why isn't that same tenacity there in his jumpshot/FTs?

Baby steps lol

He’s been taking more and more midrange jumpers. And his touch is soft of those but bounce off half the time. Eventually they’ll all start falling

what’s your guys opinion on Fultz? Can he ever overcome this? I always check the sixers box score to see if he snapped out of it. It hurts to see him score 6-8 points a night. He’s like a black Tyler Johnson without a jumpshot.

He might snap out of it but he’ll never do that/become the player we want him to while playing on the same team as Ben. I like his heart and his effort but he needs to be moved for a legit player that can actually shoot the ball. I’ve said previously trading him for D-Russ would possibly be my favorite move of all. Would reunite Ben and Embiid with their high school teammate and he’d be the perfect fit next to the rest of our current team. If it doesn’t work out then we can opt out of his contract after this season which would open up our cap space to add a max free agent this summer. He’s also only 22 years old.

On the Fultz side he gets to go somewhere with zero expectations of winning where they can be as patient as they want with developing him. Gives them another low risk high reward option they’ve been looking for as they recover from the Garnett/Pierce trade.

I did think of Russ, but not a straight up trade for Fultz. Other than fit, he has not earned that max contract money usually given to top picks. I think we can retain him at a Lavine rate. He's a smart and savvy player, I wouldn't mind having him at all.

It does hurt to give up on Fultz so early.

Either way, the team were always talking about patience with Fultz. I doubt they would look at anything this year.

With the Jimmy Butler trade we have scrapped patience.

I wouldnt say scrapped patience. Because if we did, Fultz would 100% not be playing over TJ

I like D-Lo but not for Fultz as Fultz can play defense and the D-Lo is a liability

Fultz is not anything spectacular at defense himself. He’ll make some highlight blocks and he’s a solid defender but he’s not on another level of it compared to D-Lo. Meanwhile D-Lo’s offense is on a different planet than Fultz’s. D-Lo also has made big time plays when they’ve mattered most throughout his whole career. I’d like to see him on a playoff team.

As soon as we got Butler, I pretty much stopped caring about the Fultz experiment. Let him ride the bench and do what he does. I just can't take the passes from him to another player and Fultz just hiding in a corner until the possession is over

Those two possessions where he took it to the rack with ease....why are you not doing that more often

Anyways, we got Butler. Im ready to win now. Tired of waiting, process complete. Embiid making a strong case for MVP, we got our wing scorer and defender and Simmons is still doing a great job as quarterback

Grab a 3D guy and let's make a run for it. The window to win is so damn small.

How can you make plays that matter on losing teams lol

The offense doesnt call for Fultz to do anything but stand in a corner. Thats on Brett more than anything.

The few times he has attacked in the half court or ran a PnR is when he called his own number.

First of all, I don’t understand your love affair with Fultz at all. The kid will make a few decent plays but for the most part literally just dribbles up the court as nonchalantly as possible, hands the ball off and hides in the corner 95% of the time. This is a fact.

D-Lo has been on trash teams to start his career but he’s came up big in the 4th quarter and on game winning shots plenty of times when his teams have won.

Again, that’s on Brett Brown to hide him the corner. The offense does not call for PnR when it should.

I’m just calling it how I see it when Fultz runs the offense better than Simmons.

To be honest, Fultz is not so much of an issue as our 4 spot right now. We have Muscala starting for us which is a red flag, he's a budget version of Ilyasova. That 4 spot is a hole we desperately need to fill or else we will get exploited come playoff time.

Unless Chandler starts playing like his Knicks days (unlikely) or Bolden emerges as a competent piece, that's our current weak spot. Not Fultz.

Otto Porter is the type of player we need who would help us match up waaaay better against teams like the Celtics and Raptors.
