with the rookie contract the way they now are, i dont think any position outside of specialist should be off limits even as high as 1 (so no kickers, punters or long snappers)

buttttttttttttttttttttttt, having said that, pro bowl RBs selected outside of the 1st in each of the last couple drafts (kept it to just guys who made the pro bowls.. so no blount or dion lewis, for example):

2008: matt forte (2nd round), ray rice (2nd round), jamaal charles (3rd round), justin forsett (7th round), clifton smith (UDFA)
2009: shady (2nd round), cedric peerman (6th round), arian foster (UDFA)
2010: chris ivory (UDFA)
2011: demarco murray (3rd round)
2012: alfred morris (6th round)
2013: leveon bell (2nd round), eddie lacy (2nd round), latavius murray (6th round), cj anderson (UDFA)
2014: devonta freeman (4th round)
2015: david johnson (3rd round), jay ajayi (5th round)
2016: jordan howard (5th round)
2017: hunt and kamara (3rd round)

gotta assume lindsay and chubb got great shots at making the pro bowl from this last draft

problem with RBs, as exemplified above, they aint long for the league or that level of play even if they're good.. plus the value you can get later on.. just a rinse and repeat position

I dont disagree that you can find values at the running back position in later rounds, but that can be said for every single position in the NFL. Here is every single running back drafted for the last few years.

The last few years we have been blessed with some Incredibly deep running back classes, but even then, later round picks are a damn crapshoot. For every alfred morris there are 20 players who barely played a snap

For every leveon or chub taken in the second, there is a bishop sankey and jeremy hill

i dont disgree.. before under the old contracts, i would have.. had to be an exception to the rule to take a guy (think marshall faulk running sub 4.3 at over 200 lbs with his tape)

i dont think you should reach for any position.. that's why i wasnt heavy on the 'giants should take a QB'.. but i did think the giants should have traded back and gone Oline.. like i think the cowboys should have gone pass rusher or secondary when they took zeke.. while we're here, i was thinking browns should have gone bradley chubb and then hope barkley was there at 4 (i think, just cause i wasnt a big fan of any of the QBs)

but there is a still a bit of the old stuff there, to a degree.. barkley, zeke and fournette all already got top 10 contracts for their position.. plus mccaffrey coming in 16th.. meanwhile baker got the 24th highest contract for QBs (highest for the guys still on their rookie deals)

That’s gotta be a career for Sanders right? He’s what? 32?

That Demaryius trade ain’t looking so hot right about now.

Broncos really should have traded dude at the deadline.. same with Harris

And depending on if they plan to resign roby or not, him too

That's wild he's 32. Time flies.

The Broncos couldn't have predicted this. I think the Thomas trade was worth it. Sanders was/is a better fit for this Broncos team and was still producing on a much higher level than Thomas. Plus, they're right in the playoff race. This definitely hurts their chances.

he's going be 32 in march.. even more reason the broncos should have moved him

chris harris is going be 30 in june

harris has 1 more year on his deal.. as does sanders

elway gotta start thinking long term for the team

I want DaeSean Hamilton to cook. I remember reading his story heading into the draft - how he cares for his autistic brother - and instantly became a fan.
He'll have his time after Sanders leaves, Hamilton runs routes to well not to have a future in Denver

Sanchez is cool as hell. Dude never acted like a big shot when he was in college. Still remember seeing him on first day of school at USC. He was assuming and looked like a little kid, scared.

I wanted him to be so good.
