2020-21 NBA Offseason thread: Officially a wrap

I don’t see him doing it Fam, he’s a top tier talent no doubt, but it just isn’t in him. Hell, it took Melo being out of the league for a minute, and even then it was shaky, I don’t see Jim doin it
I think their fate depends on harden adjusting his game. He can't just stand at half court and needs to be willing to spot up and cut when Kyrie and KD are doing their thing. If he can't do that it's gonna be the same old story

I’m BSing but y’all saw how that conversation went when discussing Jim and Russ between Cheeto/Duke.

“how long do you have those guys?”
“How much are they making?”

I think I want Russ to the Knicks to happen just to see what kind of shenanigans occur between him and the NY media.

But for real though.

Knicks are not going to sign anyone better than Russ.

They’re not going to draft anyone better than Russ.

Mind as well trade for Russ. Sell some jerseys, give the fans someone to cheer for. RJ ain’t it.

If one were actually an astute basketball observer with marginal grasp on history, you could see the Clips being a farce from a mile away. They were a flawed team for a myriad of reasons: (chemistry, lack of leadership, coaching, bunch of specialists, the constant need to bloviate when nothing is substance had been accomplished). With the West being even tougher next season, if they don't make some significant changes/upgrades to their team they absolutely have a ceiling of a 2nd rd exit.

We'll see if the media and basketball intelliglencia falls for the hype again this season.

who would have thought a team without a point guard would struggle in the playoffs

zach lowe had a great comment about player empowerment

players have no choice on which team drafts them, the rookie scale limits their salary, restricted free agency limits their options. players demanding a trade or taking control of their careers is simply balancing the playing field .

I still say the problem with Pat Beverly in his role for the Clippers isn’t his skill set; it’s his routine lack of availability. The guy is hurt a lot and if he’s playing under any kind of minutes restriction, he just can’t stay out of foul trouble. When he played 30 minutes or more, the Clippers very rarely lost. That just didn’t happen much, especially in the bubble.

His injury prone-ness is why I’m ready for the team to move on from him.

the record he had when he was healthy alongside kawhi was crazy good
but his fouling antics, injury issues and not so great contract has be agreeing that we need to move him. his shooting is okay, but lots of other guys out there that can provide what he does at a much cheaper price

Which is why Organizational/Franchise infrastructure is so important. If you have some sort of stability, players will be more eager to sign with you.
