2020-21 NBA Offseason thread: Officially a wrap

The league, average fan, media and social media especially would be bridled with joy if Giannis, Kawhi, KD & AD went to play with LeBron 😍.

When AD signs that 1+1 and Bron talks less next summer...

Pelinka looks like a genius, and I admittedly wasn’t sure about it at the time either. Doing what Milwaukee did for Jrue in particular was an awful deal.
Legit proved me wrong so far. I wanted the Lakers to wipe their hands clean of him.

Although let's see how he performs without Klutch. :lol

Still ignoring the TPE though.

TT better rebounder and inside presense and vet. Cheaper by almost $10M per year. Turner younger, better shot blocker, can stretch the floor. Costs more. Pretty much a wash in my opinion. I don't think that's really a hot take.

First rounder in what will probably be in the 15-30 range or $28.5M TPE that could potentially yield you a player like Aaron Gordon or Buddy Hield or a very good rotational player.

How is this some disingenuous take?

I don't think their position is going to be swayed significantly one way or the other. So....probably at worst a wash?

Look at the history of the TPE & what returns team usually get for them, the signs aren't promising. Also outside of hopeful wishing Why would the Magic/Kings give up solid players just entering their prime to the Celtics?

Also I HIGHLY doubt that at the start of last season you would consider Thompson (who many though was going to be a buyout guy) & Myles Turner a wash in terms of value to a team but aite

Philly wasn’t a real series but Tatum was actually over 6 assists against Toronto & Miami. Made me feel bad for calling him Melo when he was coming out of Duke.

Small sample size sure, but flashing that ability against the leagues best teams is huge IMO. He’s primed to take another step.

Yeah, I was one of those non-believers too and thought he would be a ball stopper like Melo that year. Tatum and Jabari seemed to get much athletic the moment they played in the NBA.
That being said, I would say that there will be pressure on him to take the leap to a top 10 player this year for the Celtics to be considered a contender. Especially with Kemba not being 100%.

It is ridiculous what the Lakers had to pay to get AD, and what other teams had to fork up for lesser talent (PG, Jrue, Westbrook).

Not necessarily. You'll almost never get equal value, especially if it leads to a championship, but the AD trade is one where both teams won.

Lakers gave up Brandon Ingram (all star), Lonzo, Hart, Deandre Hunter (2019 pick traded for 8/17/35), a bunch of swaps in 23-25 and who knows where LA will be without Lebron and AD.

But yea Clips gave up way more. Even though the Clippers gave up SGA (future borderline all star), Danilo Gallinari (starter), and even more picks that trade was a huge L for them. The amount of picks given up is insane.

Ainge turned the Pierce TPE into IT4.

The Lakers used their draft capital to build a core of Lebron & AD..... The Celtics did it to get Horford & WPG

Not a big difference, some would call it a wash.

Not to mention AD's dad went on a media tour slandering the Celtics talking bout "loyalty" when AD been itching to leave NO for greener pastures to team up with Bron in LA:rofl::rofl:

oooorrrrr

LA or whatever hot climate city will always be favorite destinations for an athlete over Boston. Lakers pretty much got a headstart in terms of building a championship team when Bron took his talents there.

Yowza completely forgot about this dude. Went from a sure fire first rounder to possibly being undrafted. Damn shame.
