Is Kawhi really tier 1 tho? Like REALLY really? He's not gonna drop 40 on you. He's not gonna kill you from long range. He's not gonna QB the offense and pick apart your defense. He's not a triple double threat and barely a double double threat. He's not gonna put pressure on the interior and relentlessly attack the rim. He's no longer an elite defender and he's not gonna shutdown your best player, if he even decides he wants to guard them, and he's not even a great help defender. On top of that he MIGHT play 75% of the season if he feels like it and no back to backs. Everyone else in that tier checks most of those boxes. He's gonna iso for stretches at a time and shoot midrange jumpers at a high clip. A monster game from Kawhi is 34 points on 66% shooting with maybe 10 boards and 5 assists. He's a specialist and not exactly an all around superstar that makes everyone better

I will see where this goes... but I actually agree somewhat.

kawhi is overrated something serious. Even with the slander, everyone is killing “playoff p” when kawhi was actually worst than him vs Denver and I don’t even hear about it.

Christmas is insane, it puts the teams that went into the bubble and made deep playoff runs at a distinct disadvantage. Half the leagues season ended in March and some teams played until the middle of October.

Wasn't a problem when David Falk was able to build his own agency off the back of having Jordan, overseas it's no problem with Jorge Mendes having one of the biggest agencies in the world for soccer off the back of having Ronaldo.

If Kawhi isn’t Tier 1 - and I think they are legitimate arguments he’s not - then Bron is probably in Tier 1 by himself. Because there’s arguments that can be made against Giannis, Harden, Curry, etc. being in the same tier as LeBron too.

Healthy KD is right there with him, IMO. But we don’t know what post-Achilles KD is going to look like yet.

Yeah, the availability argument is the biggest knock on Kawhi being a tier 1A superstar. For as much flak as James Harden gets, the guy goes out there and produces every single night in the regular season. It can be a random January in Detroit and Harden is out there producing. I hated the idea of Kawhi going half speed through the regular season essentially fast forwarding to the playoffs and being rewarded for it, The argument was always "well Kawhi is it there when it matters most, who cares if he plays in the regular season?" This is the first season he's actually got some pushback for load management.

His run with the Raptors is absolutely unimpeachable but he's gotten more mileage out of that Spurs finals MVP than any player I can remember. He averaged 17, 6 and 4 and if we're being real Duncan or Parker probably should have won FMVP. I'm sorry but a dude with fewer career points than Tobias Harris isn't an all-time great

Low key, Kawhi's Defense wasn't even all that good this season. As Jamal Murray was absolutely wetting the Clippers up, he didn't even guard him. He has no leadership qualities and he's not a playmaker on the court. There's no world in which he's on a tear above KD and Curry

Kawhi was straight trash in games 2 and 7 and garbage in the second half of games 3 4 and 6. Tier 1 tho..

Everybody says playoff performances and winning matters but it really doesn't matter when these lists come in play. Also some of the logic of the wait and see based on bubble production is used as a demerit in some cases but as an asset in others. Just use some consistency.

Exactly. The timeline just doesn't make sense. According to reports I've heard, free agency doesn't even start until December 1st. How are we going to have the draft, an entire free agency period and training camp in the next eight weeks.

Teams will not go back to the bubble unless they can bring anyone they want. Trash teams shouldn’t be invited in. They can play outside or something. Don’t need to take up space. Anyone not in the bubble during the playoffs can stay outside. NO and the wizards can join them as well
