I dunno, they never take those 'integrity of the game' offenses lightly. The 'personal conduct/conduct detrimental to the league' cases are so much more subjective.

Players in other sports have gotten lifetime bans for similar offenses so Ridley doesn't really have a leg to stand on.

Gotta imagine the threat of a lawsuit from the NFLPA and Watson probably played a part in not getting a full season along with the fact that he was basically unofficially suspended all last season.

That potential lawsuit probably brings to light more of the Texans organization’s knowledge/assistance with Watson getting massages so might be something they’re looking to avoid.

Yea he's lucky he got caught up now and not 5 years ago when the league still hated gambling at least publicly. His career would've been over.

If he appeals and increases the NFLPA and Watson could sue and it could expose the Texans and hurt the league even more. Hell, if he sues he’d be eligible to ply the whole season.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t all around.

Absolutely, also feel like it wasn't as heavy handed as it probably should've been because the NFLPA likely would've taken that precedent and pushed to have it applied to owners in similar circumstances the future.

Some of the most powerful owners in the league have been sued for SA or caught up for sex related stuff without punishment from the league

Dudes rarely reach their incentives…. Sometimes even get released before the deal is over. So out of that 140 million, they MIGHT get 100. They rarely get the entirety

I don’t think this will impact viewership tbh.

We are fiends and the NFL got that work.

Only thing I can recall impacting the numbers was the anthem stuff and maybe BLM protests, but other than that the train gone keep on moving.
 
NFL basically saying you can grope and sexually harass women, and get a 6 game
suspension.

Bet on games and get a year.

Dan Snyder and Deshaun Watson are both perverted individuals
